Submit To The Boss Lucia And August Novel Chapter 551 – -Never Spare Him
Lucia had to apply medicine to her burns every day, which meant that she couldn’t be discharged.
They kids played with their mother for a long time. They didn’t know that Lucia had to stay in the hospital until they were to leave.
Both of them were so disappointed and upset when they knew that Lucia won’t go home with them.
Timothy seemed to be sleepy. His little eyes were almost closed. However, in his half slumber, he was still unwilling to let Lucia’s hand go.
Lucia felt distressed. She also wanted to hold her babies in her arms and coax them to sleep. However, her physical condition made her wish impossible.
Paul, at last, persuaded the kids, “Well, why don’t we go home tonight? I’ll bring you to mom tomorrow. Deal?”
Lucia echoed, “Yes. You guys go back tonight and come tomorrow. I won’t run away.” The kids looked up at Lucia in unison.
They asked seriously, “Really?” Lucia nodded and said firmly, “Of course.” Lucia’s promise and their own sleepiness made the kids willing to leave.
Paul summoned the chauffeur and, after sending the children on the car, he returned to the ward.
Lucia was sitting on the bed in a daze as Timothy and Janet’s absence made the room somewhat lonely.
Hearing the door being opened, Lucia looked up and found Paul come back. She smiled. “I thought you had left.”
Paul strode to bedside and held her in his arms. He, as if knowing that she had
burns on her back, carefully avoided the burns and stroke her hair. “I couldn’t
bear to leave you.”
The man’s honeyed words stunned Lucia. Before she knew it, she had blushed.
Paul looked down at her smilingly. “You thought I abandoned you, didn’t you?”
Hearing this, Lucia had a lump in her throat. She wanted to cry as she felt so
guilty towards Paul.
She knew what she did was hurtful. If she were a man, she would definitely feel
extremely uncomfortable to see her woman going to another man without
hesitation.
Paul had been generous.
“Sorry. I was being too willful.” Lucia took a deep breath and apologized,
“Perhaps it was because of me that an innocent person was involved. I just
wanted to make things straight. That was why I…”
Lucia suddenly felt that she couldn’t continue. Paul wiped her tears and said
softly, “I can understand.”
Tears were streaming down Lucia’s cheeks. She couldn’t help feeling an
implacable guilt towards Mr. Makoto’s death for she thought that she might have
caused it.
Paul comforted her gently. He sat on the bed and asked softly, “If you want to say
something, say it. Don’t keep it in your heart. Just tell me and let it out.”
Lucia felt so warm. She sniffed, restraining the weepy feelings, and said to Paul
seriously, “I might have killed someone.”
Paul showed shock in his eyes. He asked, “Who is it?”
“A man I’ve only met once. But he is such a kind person that…”
Lucia told Paul truthfully what happened in Evergreen Mountain. When she
mentioned that Bishop had suddenly appeared in Evergreen Meditation Yard, a
strange light flashed through Paul’s eyes.
In silence, he heard the entire story from Lucia. After she finished, he said softly,
“Are you feeling bad?”
Lucia nodded. “If I weren’t there, Bishop wouldn’t have gone there. I am the
cause of Mr. Makoto’s death. I am guilty and should be responsible for that.”
Paul wanted to say something, but he just gently held her hands. He then
comforted her gently, “I don’t think it’s your fault. Don’t blame yourself.”
Tearfully, Lucia looked up at Paul and asked, “Would it be that one of the people
with me betrayed me? Or, we were followed.”
Paul, face somewhat pale, said after a short pause, “Probably.”
After a while, he asked, “If someone really betrayed you, what would you do?”
Lucia clenched her fists and showed resentment in her eyes. She said word by
word, “I will never spare him!” Her words made Paul gasp and rendered him in
silence.
After a long silence, Paul gradually held Lucia’s hand tighter and said tenderly,
“Don’t blame yourself. I will be worried and distressed if you do.”
As he spoke, he held her into his arms and comforted her in sweet voice.
Perhaps his consolation worked, Lucia gradually calmed down and fell into sound
sleep.
After Paul managed to mollity Lucia, he stood by the window and stared at her
silently for a long time. He looked expressionless. At last, he, as it he had made
up his mind, stood up slowly and softly left the ward.
Frowned and seemingly uneasy, Paul directly left the hospital with composure.
Before getting into his car, he made a phone call. “Archie, I need you to do
something. Remember last time you followed
Lucia and found Evergreen Meditation Yard? Can you find out who was with
her?”
Archie said, “I can. What for?”
It had been a long time since Lucia’s trip to Evergreen Mountain. Paul’s sudden
demand for a name list of Lucia’s companions was quite weird.
After a short silence of hesitation, Paul finally said, “I need… a scapegoat.”
He would not allow Lucia to find out the truth. He asked Archie to follow her and
secretly told Bishop her whereabouts. If Lucia could find one clue, she could find
everything out by following that clue.
He wouldn’t allow the accident, the death of a Mr. whoever-it-is to ruin all his
devotion to Lucia.
All he could do was to conceal.
Only when he covered up everything he had done could he have a sound sleep.
After giving simple instructions, he hung up and got on his car.
On the backseat, Timothy and Janet had fallen asleep. They looked like two
lovely dolls.
Sitting beside the kids, Paul ordered the chauffeur to drive. He turned to the kids
and looked at them coldly and distantly. He showed no affection in his eyes.
At last, he turned his gaze away from the kids with some disgust.
Though he used the kids to humiliate August just now, he suddenly found the
kids’ facial feature, tones, movements and even expressions were so alike
August. They resembled each other so much that they were as like as three
peas. Especially when Janet brought August cake, the blind could even see that
they were father and daughter.
Then, what about him? If the fact that August was the kids’ biological father was
revealed, what would him be? His acceptance and affection for the kids was
reduced after he saw August in the ward. He felt impatience and boredom.
towards the kids.
All he wanted, from the beginning to the end, was Lucia alone. August’s kids
were never in his consideration.
