Submit To The Boss Lucia And August Novel Chapter 588 – Too Much Bias Against Him

If she allowed Timothy and Janet to be the page boy and flower girl at her wedding, her sense of guilt would constantly gnaw at her. She would feel guilty toward Paul, Timothy, and Janet. It was as though she would betray all of them at once. “Lucia…”

When she heard Paul calling out to her, Lucia finally came back to her senses. She took a deep breath, trying to get her vision back to normal as she looked at Paul blankly. “Is everything alright with you? Why do you look sick? Are you feeling unwell?”

Paul asked in a very concerned manner as he reached out to check for Lucia’s body temperature with the back of his hand. “It doesn’t feel too hot. Why are you sweating so much?” Lucia took a deep breath and pushed his hand away. “Perhaps I’m too hungry,” she said softly. “

Why didn’t you say so earlier if you’re hungry? Hurry up and eat. The food is ready. I’ll call the children over now,” Mrs. Mitchell said as she led Lucia to the dining table. Lucia slowly came back to her senses and nodded. She then glanced at Paul and said softly, “Let’s go eat first.”

“Lucia, are you unhappy because I told Mom about the wedding?” Paul asked. “No, you are overthinking things.” Lucia shook her head immediately.
Although she denied it, her voice sounded more distant. Paul still had something to say as his mouth hung open, but he kept quiet in the end.

“By the way, Paul, Paula will go to Central Hospital tomorrow for a check-up and massage therapy. I want to go see her. Do you want to come along with me?” Paul hesitated for a moment, then shook his head and said, “I’ll be going home tomorrow night.

I won’t be going in the morning since! still have something to do
at the office.”
“Okay.” Lucia nodded.

After she finished speaking, she seemed to have nothing else to say to Paul. The
warm and fuzzy feelings she had earlier on seemed to have suddenly cooled
down. Things had returned to square one; it was mixed with an inexplicable
sense of awkwardness and alienation, making it difficult for them to look at each
other.

Lucia took a deep breath. When she went back to her room to take a shower, she
glanced at the ring on her finger and fell into deep thought.

The ring was very beautiful. She liked it very much, but she did not seem to have
accepted Paul completely. Atter thinking about it, it had been like this every single
time for the past five years. Whenever she and Paul were about to make any
progress, the thought of August or her children would pour down like a bucket of
cold water, drenching her from head to toe. Any feelings she had would subside
in an instant, reinforcing the thick wall in her heart.

Speaking of which, these were her own problems and had nothing to do with
Paul.
But this time, she did not want to run away anymore, nor did she want to feel
guilty toward Paul all the time. Since she had promised
Paul, the wedding would definitely go on.

As she thought about it, her heart was a mess. She turned on the shower and
stood underneath it, closing her eyes and letting herself fall into this quiet world
momentarily.

The next morning, Lucia left West Bridge and went directly to Central Hospital.
After returning home, although Paula’s body had almost recovered, she still
needed to take extra care at all times. Moreover, she needed massage therapy to
relax her muscles. The day before the appointment, Paula had already told Lucia
that she would be going to the hospital. She made it clear that she wanted Lucia
to accompany her. As her best friend, Lucia naturally agreed to it.

However, who knew that she would run into heavy traffic? By the time she arrived
at the hospital, she was nearly forty minutes late. She
rushed to the ward where Paula was supposed to be receiving massage therapy.
When she reached the door, she heard a conversation. coming from inside the
room.

Was that a doctor? It seemed that the treatment was not over yet.
Just as Lucia was thinking about it, she reached out to push the door of the ward.
Unexpectedly, the door swung open from the inside. There was another person
behind the door, and she nearly bumped into him.
It was Burton Harris, but when she looked Inside, August was there in his
wheelchair as well. Based on their actions, they were about to leave.

Lucia was shocked. She subconsciously looked toward Paula, who was lying on
the bed. Then, her gaze turned toward August as anger surged within her chest.
He actually had the nerve to visit Paula! She hadn’t even gotten even with him
about the USB!
She gritted her teeth and looked at him warily as she asked, “August Adams,
what are you doing here?”

“There are some things that I have to explain to the person involved, shouldn’t
1?” August asked coldly.
“What are you trying to explain? Shouldn’t you know yourself whether the
incident is related to you?” Lucia asked angrily.

She had known him for six years. Regardless of the situation, August would
protect Jeanne Kelly as long as she was involved. Lucia also knew that Jeanne
Kelly was not in his league, but he treasured her anyway. The woman was
someone he had to protect no matter what, and he was probably covering for her
this time as well.

“Lucia Mitchell, you should at least wait until you have evidence before accusing
me.” August stared at her, his gaze intense.
After he finished speaking, he turned his wheelchair around and left. Lucia was
already irritated at the sight of him, so after being mocked by him, she could feel
the anger in her chest multiplying.

“August Adams, don’t you dare leave before you can explain it clearly…”.
“Lucia, come in. I have something to talk to you about.” Just then, Paula’s voice
came from the ward.
Lucia was slightly stunned. She raised her head and looked in the direction of the
bed. Paula was waving at her.

Lucia gritted her teeth and looked at August, then at Paula. Finally, she walked
into the ward. “Paula, this time, the issue is clearly… Paula reached out for
Lucia’s hand and said softly, “August has explained to me that this incident has
nothing to do with him.” “How can you trust him?”

Lucia felt her head spinning. Whenever she thought of the root cause of this
issue, she became even angrier.
At first, he was the one who asked her to work with him to find evidence of
Jeanne Kelly’s hit-and-run accident. He was also the one who showed her the
video and hence, the truth. Later, he was also the one who held the evidence in
his hands and refused to hand it to the police. Now that the USB had
disappeared without a trace, how could she not suspect him?

Paula looked at Lucia who was fuming and asked softly, “If he really did it, do you
think he would come to me to explain it in person?”
Lucia was startled, and she did not speak for a long while.
Paula had a point. If August was the one who orchestrated the whole incident, he
didn’t have to come over and put on such a play.

“Do you still remember Jeanne Kelly’s subordinate, Mark Page?” Paula
continued when she saw that Lucia had calmed down. “Burton has
been investigating his whereabouts recently. As long as we catch him, everything
will be answered.”
As Lucia listened, the impulse and obsession she had just experienced
dissipated greatly. She took a deep breath and murmured, “It is indeed… logical.”

Paula hesitated for a moment and said slowly, “Lucia, don’t you think you are too
biased against August at times? In fact, I think he is quite a good person.”

Lucia kept mum for a while before abruptly changing the topic of their
conversation. “Are you done with massage therapy?” Lucia asked.

“It’s over.” Paula smiled and winked at her. “To be frank, I called you over here
today for something else.”

“What is it?” Lucia was confused.
Instantly, Paula’s face flushed red. “About my birth certificate…”
