Jeff snorted when hearing so. There was a hint of disdain and mockery in his eyes. He said harshly in a hoarse voice, “If you really mean to help me, you
should kill Bishop for me.”
Lucia didn’t know how to reply to him all of a sudden, since she hadn’t expected Jeff would make such a request. She would grant him
anything she could, except illegal things like murder and arson. Shaking her head, Lucia said in a low voice, “I can’t promise you that.”
Jeff let out a sneer when hearing Lucia, “I guessed so. Why did you say so it you couldn’t help me achieve it? What’s the point of what you’ve just said? Are you pleasing yourself?” Jeff’s words did hurt. Lucia a lot as if a knife had stabbed into her heart.
A hint of shame and helplessness flashed in her eyes, as she couldn’t fulfill his request in the very end. Looking up at Jeff deeply, Lucia said word by word, “I can only promise you what I can achieve. Nothing else.”
Lucia knew it clearly that great changes had happened in Evergreen Meditation Yard after Mr. Makoto’s death. And all the people there hated Bishop so much. However, they would be persons like Bishop if they were to commit a murder. Besides, they were monks and respected lives so much.
Not doing anything illegal was the line Lucia drew, and she herself would never cross this line. After a pause, Lucia turned around and told Zane, “Don’t forget to call him a doctor to bandage his wounds.”
After saying so, Lucia was striding out of the room, but she heard Jeff’s cold voice, “I don’t need your mercy.” Lucia paused for a moment and then walked out without a word. Soon, Zane caught up with her and said in a voice with dissatisfaction.
“Lucia, that old guy was being so impolite to you. Why do you still ask me to call him a doctor?” Hesitating for a few seconds, Lucia replied after a deep breath, “I owe him.

After that, Lucia took out her phone and intended to send Paul a message, but
she failed to text anything after several attempts. Lucia suddenly remembered
that Zane told her Paul would be busy these days. And he would play golt with
his client tomorrow and have a social gathering in the evening. Lucia came up
with a plan all of a sudden.
The next day, Lucia packaged her things and then set out to the Saint Golf

his head and looked her way when he was talking to someone else with laughter.
The two of them met the gaze of each other, and they both were surprised. And
soon, Paul let out a tender smile towards Lucia. He turned to the man beside him
and said something with a smile. After that, he stood up and walked towards her.
Raising his eyebrows at Lucia, Paul asked softly, “What are you doing here?” His
tone was relaxing, not unpleasant or awkward at all, as if nothing had ever
happened between them. Seeing his reaction, Lucia smiled, “It’s quite boring at
home.
I heard from Zane that you would play golf here, so I came. Maybe I can
have fun here.” Looking at Lucia gently, Paul let out a smile, “You will. Follow
me.” Reaching out his hand, Paul put his arm around her shoulder and took her
to the big round table.
The people on the table over there all looked at them with different expressions.
When a man in his forties saw them, he first said with a smile, “I was wondering
why Mr. Thomas didn’t ask for a beauty to keep him company. Now I know he
has had one.” Paul smiled and gently pulled Lucia to sit down beside him.
The
waiter next to them sent a new set of tableware to Lucia and then picked up the
red wine bottle to pour her glass, but he was stopped by Paul. “Excuse me,
please send her a glass of squeezed orange juice with no ice cubes.”
The waiter
nodded immediately and turned to get it ready. At this moment, all the others on
the table looked at Lucia with complicated expressions, especially the other
women who cast a glance at Lucia
