After My Husband Sent Me to Learn the Rules, He Regretted – Chapter 2
In six months at the sanatorium, I’d gained 80 pounds.
They found me disgusting, but even I wanted to vomit seeing my flabby flesh.
When I first arrived, I thought this was Nathan’s usual way of protecting Clara and humiliating me.
So I went on a hunger strike, like before, to force him to fetch me.
I was wrong.
I starved until I fainted, and he still didn’t come.
My hunger strike caused a threatened miscarriage.
Seeing blood trickle down, I realized I was pregnant.
I tried calling Nathan to tell him, but my phone was taken, and I was chained by my neck and limbs, trapped in the sanatorium.
Mark, fearing the child would threaten Clara’s status but also that Nathan wouldn’t forgive him if it was lost, forced me to eat daily.
Every meal consisted of three huge bowls of fatty meat, and I had to keep eating even when I was awake.
If I stopped or vomited, Mark tied me to a bed, letting lustful old men torture me.
It hurt too much, too vile.
Even a mere memory made me tremble.
But Nathan, always fastidious, didn’t let go, gripping me tighter:
“Didn’t you always love beauty?”
“Why eat yourself into this? I just wanted you to reflect quietly here. Is this how you spite me?”
I kept my standard smile, appeasing:
“It’s my fault—lazy and gluttonous. I’ll change. Please take me out.”
Seeing my smile, he released me with resentment:
“Enough. Who’re you acting for?”
“Follow me!”
He grabbed Clara and stormed off.
Terrified of losing my chance, I crawled on all fours, dragging my heavy body behind them.
Nathan got far before noticing I wasn’t there. Turning, he saw me squirming like a wounded animal.
He was livid:
“Anna, if you don’t want to leave, stay here forever.”
“Clara’s kind—she won’t mind you eating so much.”
Clara’s gaze was icy:
“Hear that? Get over here. You’re fat as a pig—think playing weak will make Nathan pity you?”
I desperately wanted to escape.
But the old men loved my screams during their abuse. Last time, they kicked my spine, and I hadn’t walked since.
Mark, trailing us, attempted to make peace:
“Anna was reckless, fell, and hurt her legs.”
“I wanted to take her to a hospital, but she refused, saying she’d stay like this to make you regret. She stopped us from telling you.”
Nathan’s face darkened, storming up to me, glaring:
“Anna, you’ve disappointed me.”
“You’re as malicious as ever, trying to ruin Clara’s reputation like this!”
He flung his sleeve in frustration, grabbed Clara’s arm, and left without looking back.
Watching them go, my pupils shrank, a piercing scream escaping before I blacked out.
I woke in a hospital, tubes everywhere.
But the empty VIP ward held no Nathan.
Looked away, my gaze no longer searching, laughing bitterly.
How dare I hope he’d stay?
Nathan loathed me. I’d clung to him shamelessly.
It turned out that he only took me out for his father’s birthday banquet.
He didn’t love me, but his dad only recognized me as his daughter-in-law.
Not out of care—just for business prestige.
I figured, after this banquet, Nathan would demand a divorce.
