Submit To The Boss Lucia And August Novel Chapter 788 – Candlelight Dinner
The living room was brightly lit as usual but was unusually quiet. Janet and Timothy were nowhere to be seen. Only the well-cooked food on the table was enveloped by the candlelight, seeming extremely romantic.
“Could it be that someone has burst into our home?” Lucia was frightened by the scene downstairs. Mark and Ethan really gave Lucia a quite scare last time and she was still frightened of their break-in.
August understood her scare. “Do you think intruders will prepare dinner for us thoughtfully?” Wrapping her hand with his warm hand, August said calmly.
His words, maybe his firm voice, eased Lucia’s mind greatly and offered her a sense of security. Lucia’s body was no longer taut, then she stepped to the table. There was a pink sticky note on the table, which read “Dear mommy and daddy,
we have gone to our bed. Enjoy your delicious dinner. Your dear Janet and Timothy” The cute scribble on the note was a dead giveaway to who wrote this note. The note and words on it were so funny that Lucia cracked up.
Slipping the note into August’s hand, she looked at the food on the table and found surprisingly her favorite dishes were all laying out on it.
And the flowers in the vase were also her favorite sunflower.
Though the flowers were incompatible with the candlelight dinner, only one look
could Lucia know that the dinner was prepared to suit her.
“What the two little things are doing? Lucia wondered, but her voice was full of
delight.
August didn’t respond to her. He just pulled out the chair for Lucia and invited her
to sit with all smiles. As they sat down together, the aroma of champagne wafted
toward them.
“August, it seems that you have known the candlelight dinner beforehand but you
kept it from me and conspired with Timothy and Janet to surprise me, right?”
Lucia gave him a pettish scold, laughingly.
Toasting in champagne, August explained with a hint of designed grievance, “I
don’t know either, or I won’t work so late at my study.” “Well, fair enough,” Biting
her lips, Lucia continued, “For their sake, I’ll overlook it this time…” Smiles lit up
Lucia’s fine features as she was teasing August.
After a few glasses of wine, Lucia’s cheeks were glowing from alcohol and her
head was teetering on the brink of sobriety that she didn’t know that she was
getting her words muddled up.
Cracking her eyes up, Lucia’s vision was getting blurry. She stared in the
direction of August and murmured, “Why do I see two Augusts at the same time?
Did you learn Kagebunsin at Griffith Organization?”
“You are not sober now.” Said August with a pair of soulful eyes fixing on Lucia,
who was lying on all sides.
There was a trace of imperceptible pampering in his voice, so
subtle that even he himself didn’t realize that.
“Nonsense, I’m sober enough now,” Lucia mumbled, wagging her finger in front
of August.
After saying, she slumped down in her chair.
August produced a resigned smile, then came forward to lift her up with his arms.
With such close body contact, he could smell her sweet scent mixed with the
aroma of the wine. August almost lost his breath, his whole body going taut.
Knowing nothing about what was going to happen, Lucia couldn’t
help rubbing against his broad, solid chest when she felt August’s heartbeat.
“August, you really smell good.”
August gasped involuntarily and felt hot for Lucia’s rubs. In strides, he went
upstairs eagerly and threw her down on the soft bed of their bedroom.
Tipsy as Lucia was, having no idea what was going on here, could only hold to
tightly on August’s shirt and pull him closer to her subconsciously. They fell on
the bed together, and his body was pressing against hers.
Lucia let out a muffled groan unconsciously. She was thirsty for water now but
she seemed to find the wrong thing for she was in a state of oblivion.
Her arms tightened about his neck in desire and smashed her
tender lips against his.
She acted so smoothly that it seemed that she just went with her first instinct.
August could feel he was on fire. “Do you know what you are doing, Lucia?”
Holding back his impulsive nature, he warned her in a
cracked voice.
“Of course, I know.” She just nodded and murmured, “You are my husband, I can
do anything I want to you, I…”
Before she finished her words, August’s lips crashed into hers with an
unexpected movement. The air in the room shifted and only the sound of deep
breaths could be heard. The angels started singing above them.
At this moment, someone was in a drunken stupor as well in a private house.
Edmund was seeking solace in the whisky bottle. Abruptly, the doorbell rang.
Edmund had to stagger to answer. A shapely woman stood in the doorway as he
opened the door. Without further thinking, Edmund just pressed her against the
white
wall behind them.
And the woman pushed herself away from him evenly with her fingers. “Mr. Shea,
could you please open your eyes and see who I
am? I’m not your beloved Lucia.” Her voice was full of irony.
Edmund froze at the thought of Lucia and came to his senses slightly. Through
his blurry vision, he saw a stranger. “Who are you?” Edmund sobered up
instantly.
The woman didn’t answer but smiled with her brows raising. “It doesn’t matter
who I am, who I come for today matters. Can I have
a cup of tea?”
Staring into her malicious eyes for a while, Edmund then turned around and led
her into the house.
The woman’s smile grew bigger as she followed Edmund into it. Stepping over
the bottles scattered on the ground, she took her seat gracefully on the couch.
“I don’t know Mr. Shea is so affectionate before. But I feel pity for
you. Lucia is enjoying her happy life while you could only drown your sorrow
alone here. It must be sheer torture for you.”
Edmund felt irritated at her gloating remark, then he snorted contemptuously.
“You! Even though I’m drunken now, I’m not a man you can trample on easily.”
“It’s clear to me,” The woman gave a chuckle and said, “I know who you are and
how you work your way up in politics. Cream of the crop in terms of alcohol
tolerance. Am I right, Mr. Shea?” “How dare you investigate me?” Edmund was
inwardly furious but his voice was rather cold.
Not intimidated by him at all, the woman spoke again playing with
the bottles handy. “Yeah, and it’s really taxing for me to investigate one of the
most important two bigwigs in Austos City.” “All of the people who dare to probe
into me are behind bars now, what do you want me to do with you?”
“Temper, temper. I just come here to make a deal with you. It’s
necessary and reasonable to know your potential partner, right? And I’m definitely
sincere about our cooperation. Let me just cut the crap. I can help you win Lucia
back.”
“Who the heck are you?” Edmund made it as he wasn’t interested in her offer and wore a grim face.
A smile curling around her lips, the woman looked at him with a steady
look.”Currer Sullen.”
