Submit To The Boss Lucia And August Novel Chapter 786 – Husband and Friend

“Sorry to bother you, Lucia, I’ve told Phillip Shea not to disturb you, but he just…” Edmund Shea’s voice sounded apologetic on the phone.
“Well, never mind, he is just a kid, I can understand it.” A smile stretched Lucia’s lips at her thought of Phillip Shea.

“Lucia, I have to say sorry for the thing that happened at the political reception. I didn’t know that Mr. Admas would attend it as well. I didn’t mean you to be in a catch-22 situation.” “It’s no big deal, I know that it was just a coincidence. Just forget it.” Said Lucia hastily.

Before the conversation was about to go on, Phillip, half crying, suddenly said, “Mom, I want to dine with mom…” “Good boy, daddy will eat with you, ok?” Edmund Shea coaxed him patiently but his words didn’t work out. Phillip Shea began to cry for mom.

Lucia then came to know what Phillip Shea wanted was to have lunch with her. “Does Phillip want to dine with me?” She asked softly.
“Yeah, he has it in his brain all the time after you left last time. I hate to trouble you with a such thing so I just have to bribe him into not calling you.

But my trick doesn’t work at all today, sorry.” Lucia’s ears caught Phillip’s cry from time to time as Edmund said awkwardly and
her heart twitched at the cry. “What about we dine together outside today for the sake of Phillip?” Lucia offered after careful thought.

“Thank you, Lucia, but he will be ok, I’m good at handling him.” Against all expectations, Edmund gave a deliberate refusal, but his tone was tinged with
obvious helplessness. Lucia dropped her eyes at his words, looking as though she was making up her mind. “

Don’t say that, that’s a deal. You just send me the address of the restaurant. I’ll be there soon to meet you.” Edmund Shea stole a breath of relief when he heard a positive answer. “Thank you so much! I really appreciate that, you really do me a great favor, Lucia.” His voice shook with rapture.

Hanging up the phone, he held Phillip into his arms at once and laughed heartily
but weirdly. “Phillip my good boy, you really did a good job, mom will dine with
you today, but you need to behave like that in front of her all the time,
understand? Only by this way will mom stay with you forever.”

Phillip nodded with a confused expression on his face. He didn’t understand what
daddy was talking about for he only felt his arm was hurt. And he didn’t see why
daddy kept pinching him when he called.
Lucia prepared to leave after she received the address sent by Edmund within
minutes. Somehow, she felt it would be inappropriate to eat out alone with a
single man and his son. Hence, she decided to bring Janet and Timothy together
with her. The scent of the roses was wafted along by soothing light music and the
red roses on the table were strikingly beautiful, just like a beauty’s rosy cheeks.

This restaurant clearly featured a romantic atmosphere.
For these obvious features, this was a place for couples to date, rather than a
place for the family to meet.
Edmund’s eyes lip up at the sight of Lucia in the doorway, but soon the light in his
eyes died out and was replaced by coldness when he saw Janet and Timothy
following in her wake.

He had to take Phillip along with him because he asked Lucia out in the name of
Phillip and Phillip wouldn’t be a spoiler on their date. As for the kids of August,
they wouldn’t be as easy to control as Phillip.
Lucia walked gracefully to the table with an elegant smile when Edmund was
thinking to himself. But, her smile froze on her lips as Lucia realized that there
were only four seats for five people.

Noticing the change in her face, Edmund hastened to motion to the waitress,
“Could you please arrange a table for five for us? Thank you very much.”
This restaurant was famous for its romantic atmosphere and pretty decoration.
That’s why people coming here were basically all lovers and couples except the
five.
The waitress blushed at the sight of his handsomeness and

gentlemanly manner. She bowed and said respectfully, “Sir, greetings. All booths
in the main hall could hold four people at large. If you don’t mind, you may dine in
the private boxes.” How could there be such a romantic atmosphere in the
private box?!

Bearing such a thought in his mind, Edmund almost couldn’t stand any sight of
Janet and Timothy although they were as lovely as angels. And due to the
presence of Lucia, he could only try to not show his dislike to them and lead them
into the private box. Although Janet and Timothy grew up Amecan, they preferred
domestic cuisines to fancy exotic food like beef steak. So after they had little of
the food, they played with Phillip merrily on the couch beside the table and the
three erupted into waves of laughter
sometimes.

Edmund took a strong dislike to them and their peals of laughter,
but he had to conceal his restlessness and aversion in order to
build himself up as a gentleman. He kept helping Lucia with the food and water
during the meal, acting just like her boyfriend or
husband.
Edmund was so satisfied by and addicted to this kind of feeling of staying with
Lucia without disturbance from the kids that he paid no attention to Timothy’s
contemplation. There is something wrong
with him. Timothy said to himself.

He didn’t know why Phillip’s father was not as amiable as he displayed, and he
even gave him a terrible feeling of blackness. And as he understood it, mom
quarreled with dad because of him.
In a word, he was too hospitable.
Edmund’s perfectly-formed face was full of tenderness while he was looking at
Lucia, which cast a shadow in Timothy’s eyes.

Lucia was talking about her job with Edmund when she met his emotional eyes.
Having no option that she could only lower her head to avoid his gaze, but the
food dropped into the soup in front
of her from her fork by accident.
The food had splashed her face up with spots of soup. Lucia gave an apologetic
smile at Edmund before she was to wipe it out. And Edmund stretched out his
hand and wiped the oil and grease out with his finger without a second thought.

His thumb touched her lips wittingly, making Lucia scowl slightly in discomfort
and shoot him a wary glance. The cordial atmosphere between them vanished in
a moment as Lucia sat back
subconsciously.
“Excuse me for a moment, Mr. Shea.” Lucia cleared her throat.

Timothy sitting on the couch caught sight of the whole thing and there was a cold
light of anger flashing in his eyes. Soon, the light disappeared and his face was
taken up by a deliberately naive
smile.
He came to the seat of Lucia and fiddled with the knife and fork. “Mr. Edmund,
thank you for being so thoughtful to my mom.” He pointedly raised a bright smile
at Edmund and said with his childish
tone.

Edmund Shea was reluctant to have a chat with him actually. Given he was the
son of Lucia, he managed to be benign to him. “Never mind, I’m your mother’s
good friend. So that’s what I should do.” Timothy gave a meaningful “Oh” and
spoke again like he was saying to himself, “But I think my dad is more thoughtful
than you to my mom, maybe it is because he is my mom’s husband and you are
just a friend of my mom.”

Edmund held the knife and fork more tightly unconsciously at
Timothy’s words. He looked at him steadily to figure out what Timothy’s words
mean exactly for he couldn’t tell whether his words were just childish babble or meant something else for a moment.

“Timothy, are they good all the time? I mean, your dad and mom.”
Edmund tore his inquisitive eyes away from Timothy and asked with false
interest.
“Of course, Mr. Shea.” Timothy raised his eyebrows with an air of
curiosity. “Why do you ask Mr. Shea? Are you going to sow discord among my
parent and avail yourself of chasing after my mom?” “What if I mean it truly?”

Edmund’s voice was tinged with coldness suddenly as if he flew into a rage at
Timothy’s words. “Which do you like better, mom or dad?”
The smile on the face of Timothy grew into a beam. “Is that matters?” His answer
was a rhetorical question. “In fact, who my mom like is immaterial as well…”
