Submit To The Boss Lucia And August Novel Chapter 756 – Depend On Herself
The weather was gloomy. Lucia ran into the office building against the wind and sat in the rest area of Ulzil Company for the whole
afternoon. The receptionist served her another cup of coffee and persuaded her in a low voice, “Miss Mitchell, our director won’t meet you.
Please go back and wait for our information.” Pushing the cup back, Lucia maintained her elegant smile and gently replied, “Please give
the sample copy to Ms. Evie. I’ll wait for her response here.”
The receptionist sighed softly and turned to leave. The lights in the office went out one by one, and employees hurried out of the
company. The lively hall gradually fell into silence as the bell rang Lucia heard a crisp click sound.
She looked up and saw the door of the director’s office open. A serious-looking woman in a black dress came out of the office. Lucia’s eyes lit up and immediately went forward to block the woman’s way. “Hello, Ms. Evie. I am the person in charge of Visual Feast Studio.”
Ms. Evie was startled and asked dryly, “Why are you still here?” Lucia nodded and said, “I’ve already sent you the latest sample copy by email. Have you
seen it?” Ms. Evie studied her and said, “The new sample is good indeed, but we can’t cooperate with you. Please find someone else.
” “Ms. Evie!” Lucia hurriedly blocked the elevator. Seeing Ms. Evie getting more and more impatient, Lucia took a deep breath and said,
“Please believe in our company’s ability. I hope you can give us one more chance.” “It is not your ability that I don’t trust, but unfortunately…”
Ms. Evie paused, and when she looked at Lucia again, there was a little disdain in her eyes. She said, “When there’s limited time, your company just does the job perfunctorily. There’ll be no possible way for me to cooperate with a company like that, so please don’t waste my time.”
With that, she wanted to push Lucia away, but she slowly lowered her hand and
warned, “Please move aside!”
“Ms. Evie, just give me a minute to explain, and I won’t bother you.”
With a grave expression, Lucia slowly said, “The reason why I chose to
cooperate with you is because of your studio’s responsible
attitude towards national cartoons. Since that’s the case, I will naturally not just
go through the motions. There’s indeed a reason why I
submitted incomplete samples.”
Hearing this, Ms. Evie’s expression eased a lot and she signaled for her to
continue.
“Even though we are pressed for time, I can still hand in a much better sample
copy only one day after. Don’t you think there is a
misunderstanding?”
Ms. Evie looked straight at Lucia and asked with a sneer, “Do you mean that
someone deliberately handed in a fake sample to hurt your
reputation?”
“Yes!” Lucia answered with extreme seriousness.
“Well, as long as you get any evidence, I will consider cooperating with you
again. Before that, I don’t want to see you anymore, so please
don’t disturb my work.”
As Ms. Evie was speaking, she no longer concealed her impatient expression
and directly pushed Lucia away and got into the elevator. There was a strong
wind outside the office building. A few private cars drove fast on the road, and
heavy snow mixed with rain poured on
the street. Lucia’s clothes soon got wet, and her face turned red from the cold.
A
familiar Maybach stopped in front of her, and the
window slowly rolled down August looked at her with a gloomy face and ordered,
“Get in the car.”
Lucia was stunned at first, but then she quickly got into the car. It was warm
inside the car, but she still couldn’t stop trembling. “Why
didn’t you tell me?” August asked in a cold voice, “How long do you want to hide
it from me?”
Lucia glanced at him with a guilty expression and muttered, “This is the most
important job in my studio. I want to do it by myself.
without others’ help.”
August pursed his thin lips, stroked Lucia’s hair gently, and replied in a cold
voice, “This is not as simple as you think, and it’s not
necessary for you to suffer by yourself.”
Lucia lowered her head and didn’t argue with him. Instead, she said in a low
voice, “Ms. Evie has promised to give me another chance as
long as I can get enough evidence.”
“Where do you want to get the evidence?” August asked in a deep voice, “Where
do you plan to start?”
The car fell into a long silence. Soon, they stopped at the gate of the Adams
family’s house. Timothy was sitting in front of the computer
and typing on the keyboard. When he saw them entering the room, he shouted,
“Dad, I’ve almost finished my investigation. Come here, I
want to show you!”
August glanced at Lucia and said in a low voice, “Timothy wants to do something
to help. What he did had nothing to do with me. If you
want to solve the problem by yourself, I won’t interfere.”
Lucia nodded. She cast August a grateful gaze, then quickly walked over to Timothy.
When she saw the computer screen, she was
astounded. She pointed to the screen and asked Timothy in surprise, “Did you do that all
on your own?”
Timothy nodded and smiled proudly as he took out a few printed papers from the table
and handed them to her. “These will prove mom’s
innocence.”
On the paper were the IPs that sent the emails and evidence that someone had cracked
the firewall as well as stolen the email accounts, and several charts she couldn’t read,
concluding that the defective samples were not made by the IP in the city.
Lucia was excited. With this evidence, she would have a chance to cooperate with Ulzil
Company again. Timothy looked at her proudly and urged, “Mama, hurry up and take a
comfortable hot shower then come down and have dinner with us. I’m about to starve.”
August’s expression darkened as he watched Lucia leave. Timothy turned looked at
August and asked, “Dad, you have done so much for
Mom. Why don’t you let Mom know?”
Instead of responding, August walked slowly to the computer, touched Timothy’s little
head, and asked, “Have you found anything about
other things?”
Timothy nodded, and the childishness on his face faded away. Instead, his face was
content with a seriousness that did not match his
age.
“The person who did this should only be working for money, and his means are very
brilliant, so I had to ask Uncle Flynt to find it out.”
As Timothy spoke, he switched to the computer monitor. The video seemed to be a
surveillance video. Although it was very vague, it was
not difficult to see that it was a woman wrapped up herself in a lot of clothes.
“This is the person who paid, but the boarding records have been erased. We can’t find
out who she is.”
Looking at the woman on the computer screen, August frowned slightly. He felt that he
had seen this woman somewhere, but he couldn’t
remember who she was for a while.
“Uncle Flynt said that this woman may have learned anti-reconnaissance and she’s very
careful. If it weren’t for the fact that the
she hired wasn’t careful enough and left loopholes, we might not have been able to find
anything,” added Timothy. Anti-reconnaissance abilities?
Was she Ethan Denko’s or Mark Page’s remaining supporters? Or some other enemy?
Why did she choose Lucia’s Studio? The expression in August’s eyes became colder and
colder.
