Submit To The Boss Lucia And August Novel Chapter 626 – It Was Really Him

After getting out of Bishop’s car, Lucia telt cold although the sun was warm outside. She only felt chilled and lost as she aimlessly walked down the road. All the things were messed up. She couldn’t stay rational and calm. The scale in het heart had collapsed, and she had believed what Bishop said.

Paul and she had known each other for years. She knew too well his subconscious movements when he was speaking and that he would twiddle his fingers when he couldn’tdecide on something. In the video, she had seen his tiny yet familiar movements.

She was 100% sure that it was Paul. At the same time, she couldn’t believe he did such a thing. Betraying her was one thing. His reckless decision was the bigger evil. He had been so gentle, patient, kind, and considerate. Only sinister people would do this kind of terrible thing.

That was the part she found it hardest to accept. She roamed forward, her mind wandering. A dazzling light and an ear-piercing blare
suddenly came, bringing her back to reality. She looked over in a panic and found herself in the middle of the road.

It was the red light, and the drivers on both sides honked their horns. A driver poked his head out of the window and yelled at her, “What are you doing? Have you lost your mind?” Lucia shook, sobered up, and hurriedly ran across the road amid the noisy blare.

Bitterness rose from the bottom of her heart and resolved into tears. She bit her lips to fight back her tears. While she was at a loss, her phone rang. She took a deep breath and fished the phone out of her pocket. The sight of the caller ID sent a shiver down her spine.

Her fingers trembled, and the phone call was rejected. It was Paul calling, but the sight of his name alone gave her chills and aroused her
resistance. At that point, she couldn’t answer the phone. Before she thought things through and made her decision, she couldn’t calmly face him.

Unknowingly, she went into a park, found a quiet spot, and sat down on the bench. The
scenes of Paul accompanying her over the years flashed across her mind. How could
such a
good man do such a thing?

It was getting dark, and her heart turned cold. She thought a lot and tried to
convince herself, but her heart was broken. Even if she could put the pieces back
together, there would
still be cracks. She couldn’t forget and forgive because Paul had crossed the line.

After making up her mind, she took a deep breath, stood up, and walked to the
side of the road. She hailed a taxi and told the driver her destination. Half an hour
later, she arrived at
West Bridge and stood at the gate. The villa was well-lit, but she was feeling bad.
She had taken this place for her home. Now it only looked strange and cold. The
sense of belonging
was completely gone. Gritting her teeth, she opened the gate, crossed the
courtyard, and reached the hall.

The maid, who was cleaning, saw her and cheerfully greeted her, “Madam,
you’re back. Mr. Thomas has been waiting for you.”
Lucia felt uncomfortable hearing the name. A bit pale, she frowned and asked,
“Where are Timothy and Janet?”
“They’re reading books in the children’s room.”
Lucia nodded and quickly walked away. The maid froze and asked, “Madam,
have you had dinner?”
“Yeah,” Lucia replied and continued her way forward.

The maid looked at Lucia and felt uneasy. After a moment of contemplation, she
walked to the table, picked up the phone, and called Paul who was on the
second floor. The phone was soon answered. His voice was a bit hoarse.
“Anything?”
The maid whispered, “Mrs. Thomas came back and went straight to the children’s
room. Her face was a bit pale. I wonder if anything happened.”
The man on the other end of the phone said after a moment of silence, “I see.”

In two minutes, rapid footsteps came from the stairway. A big figure then
appeared. Paul quickly got down, glanced at the maid, and headed toward the
children’s room. The door
opened with a creak. Lucia led the two children out and bumped into the man.
She halted and instantly pulled a long face. Their eyes briefly meet in mid-air.

The atmosphere was a bit
awkward
Paul smiled at her and broke the silence. “You’re back.”
Without a response, Lucia led Timothy and Janet back into the room. In a soft
voice, she said to them, “Go in and play.”
After settling them down, she came out and closed the door. In the doorway, Paul looked
at her frosty face and somehow felt upset. “Lucia, you……”
“Come with me.” She then walked to the side.

Paul swallowed back his words and followed behind her with an uneasy feeling. She was
acting like a different person and had disappeared the entire afternoon. And she wouldn’t
answer his calls. Something was not right. She went to the balcony and looked outside.
There was a long silence.
Standing beside her, Paul hesitated for a moment and asked, “Is anything wrong?”
As soon as his voice died away, she turned to look at him and asked, stressing her tone,
“Paul, I have something to ask you. Is Mandy’s hemorrhage related to you?”

Paul was shocked, his eyes going dim. After a brief silence, he shook his head. “No,
where did you get that idea?”
“What about last time? Bishop followed me to the Evergreen Meditation Yard and killed
Mr. Makoto. Were you involved in it?”
It was a bolt from the blue. Paul turned pale. His eyelids twitched, but no words came out
of his mouth. Her dark eyes were fixed on him.

“Answer me.”
His lips parted, but he couldn’t give her a definite answer. He reached out his hand and
said, “Lucia, I can explain.”
Lucia subconsciously backed up and shook her head. The look in her eyes was distant.
“So, it was really you.”
