Submit To The Boss Lucia And August Novel Chapter 527 – Looking at Her with New Eyes
Zane didn’t think much about it but told him whole the story in detail, saying, “Since I learned Lucia has come back from abroad, I have been secretly
protecting her.
Once, she met Ms. Kelly in the hospital, and then they quarreled…” Hearing what had happened to Lucia and Jeanne behind the
rockery in the hospital, August unconsciously frowned. Unexpectedly, Jeanne was even more ruthless than he had thought.
If he hadn’t heard Zane say it with his own ears, he wouldn’t have believed it at all… Zane specifically related how he had met Lucia and told her his identity and why they had decided to look for August together extremely specifically.
When he was talking about them looking for clues together, Kylan couldn’t help interrupting, “Actually, I began to admire Lucia when we were in Evergreen Temple. None of us had expected to meet Ethan there…”
Hearing him mention Ethan, August immediately thought of what Lucia had said when meeting him today. It turned out that she did have encountered Ethan… August was stunned for a short while and quickly asked, “What happened at that time?”
When Kylan related what had happened vividly, August’s heart was racing to the rhythm of the story. He had not expected her to be so courageous. Under such circumstances, she had remained calm in the face of danger. Now, he was looking at her with new eyes.
The girl who was flustered whenever problems cropped up had disappeared.
Now, Lucia’s state of mind and cleverness had improved to a higher level.
Realizing this, he inexplicably felt gratified. When he heard Kylan talk about how
they had looked for him in Evergreen Temple together, August frowned slightly
and had a strange feeling.
If what Kylan and Zane had said was true, it was just a coincidence that they had
gone to Evergreen Temple that day because they had not even known he was
there. But why had Bishop gone there to look for him so soon? All the clues
pointed to that Bishop had followed Lucia to the temple.
If Lucia had not known
he was in the temple, why had Bishop
been so sure of his whereabouts? These clues had led him to a dead end, so he
could not figure it out now. August had a headache, so when listening to Kylan
and Zane speaking, he was absent-minded.
“Mr. Adams!”
Hearing Kylan’s call, August came back to his senses. Kylan then asked, “Next,
should we still stick to your plan?” August nodded with a stern expression, “Yes,
do what I said. Don’t let Bishop notice anything. And ensure her safety.”
Kylan and Zane responded in unison, “Yes, Mr. Adams!”
August nodded slightly, “Okay! You guys go get ready.”
Watching them leave, August stayed alone in the yard for a while before turning
the wheelchair around.
This was the first shot he fired at Bishop, so he could not allow the latter to hit his
soft underbelly. So, August must seize
the initiative from the very beginning.
When he drove the wheelchair into the house, he subconsciously looked in the
direction of the dining room. Lucia was
still eating, ignoring him.
The maid beside her said, “Mr. Adams, dinner is ready. Would you like to have
some?”
Hearing this, August glanced at a dinner specially prepared for him on the table
next to Lucia, hesitated for a moment,
and nodded, “Okay.”
When he was approaching Lucia, the latter suddenly put down her fork, stood up,
and smiled at the maid, saying politely,
“I’m done eating. It’s delicious.”
Then, she turned around and walked away without looking at him.
August was slightly startled. When he raised his eyes and glanced at the
porridge on the dining table that she hadn’t
finished, he frowned slightly. Lucia had not finished her food. She had left
because she didn’t want to have dinner
together with him!
Suddenly, he flew into a rage because he had not expected her to be unwilling to
have a meal with him. Even though he was furious, he suppressed his anger and
had dinner in silence.
He did not know why the relationship between him and Lucia had become so
alienated. At first, they had misunderstood each other, but the misunderstanding
had long been removed. However, they seemed to have many conflicts now, and
neither was willing to compromise.
It was useless to think about it now. August frowned and decided to stop thinking
about such trivial things. Now, his priority was to figure out how to deal with
Bishop in the next step.
The moonlight was hazy and dim at night.
Maybe it was because Lucia had slept too much during the day, she tossed and
turned until late at night but was not
sleepy at all. During the day, she had made a call to Paul and turned off her
phone after hanging up. At night, when she turned on the phone, she found Paul
had not called her or sent her a message. She felt inexplicably guilty at heart,
thinking she had hurt his feelings this time.
In the evening, she had told Elisa that she had work to do and couldn’t go back to
West Bridge and asked her to take care of Timothy and Janet. Elisa had not
asked any questions but sent her a video. In the video, Elisa was urging Timothy
and
Janet to wash up. The kids were chatting and laughing, looking cute.
Having difficulty falling asleep late at night, Lucia played that video again. After
watching it over and over again, she couldn’t help smiling.
She had asked herself whether she had regrated giving birth to the two kids
recklessly. And her answer was no. Looking back on the past, she thought her
decision was correct no matter how hard life was.
Suddenly, there was a muffled “bang” outside the door. Lucia was taken aback,
suspecting that she was hallucinating. The sound seemed to come from the
corridor, so it was some distance away from her bedroom. Lucia turned off the
phone, sat up, and listened intently, holding her breath. There seemed to be
some more noises outside that she couldn’t have heard if she had not listened
carefully. Lucia felt inexplicably uneasy, so she slowly got off the bed and walked
to the door.
But when she arrived, there was no sound anymore. Had she heard it wrong?
After hesitating for a moment, she still turned the doorknob and pushed the door
open. But she saw no one at the door. When she looked in the direction of the
corridor, she found someone sitting at the staircase. From her angle, she could
only see half of the person’s back…
Taking a deep breath, she mustered up her courage and stepped forward. It
wasn’t until she reached the stairs that she realized the person sitting on the
ground was August!
His wheelchair had slipped down the stairs, and he was sitting on the top stairs
with a strange expression. When he saw
her, a hint of embarrassment flashed across his face.
Seeing this, Lucia guessed what had happened. Probably when August had
wanted to go downstairs, he had accidentally fallen off the wheelchair.
After all,
no one had helped him. A slanted wooden board had been installed on the stairs
to make it easier for him to go up and down, but it was quite dangerous for him to
operate the wheelchair on the slope by
himself.
Lucia took a deep breath, couldn’t help showing a soft face, and said gently, “You
should not go up and down the stairs by yourself.”
Then, she went down a few steps, righted the wheelchair that had turned over,
and then moved it to the top of the stairs.
