Moonborn Heir

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 40

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 40 –She raises an eyebrow, her smirk widening as she steps closer.

I thought I’d offer my… observations. You know, since last night’s convocation was such a roaring success.” Her voice drips with sarcasm, and my wolf bristles at the challenge in her tone. “It’s not over,” I snap, narrowing my eyes at her. “The vision I presented—”

“Your vision,” she cuts me off, her tone sharp, “isn’t enough. Not like this.” I glare at her, my patience thinning. “If you’ve come here just to gloat, Sabrina—”
“Oh, Kael,” she purrs, stepping closer, her movements slow and deliberate. “I’m not gloating. I’m advising. Someone has to, after last night’s disaster.”

Her words hit a nerve, and I sit up straighter, my fists clenching on the desk. “If you have advice, then give it. Otherwise, get out.” She tilts her head, her smirk softening into something almost amused. “Fine,” she says, leaning against the edge of the desk, her eyes locking onto mine.

“Here it is. Stop playing nice.” I raise an eyebrow, my wolf still growling restlessly inside me. “What do you mean?” “I mean,” she co tinues, her voice taking on a sharper edge, “that you’re wasting your time trying to win over everyone at once. You’re trying to lead with reason and unity, but that’s not
what wolves respect. Wolves respect strength. Power. Strategy.”

I stay silent, watching her as she steps around the desk, her fingers trailing over the polished wood. “You need to form alliances, Kael. Not with all the packs at once, but one by one. Start small. Build momentum. And when the others see the strength of your alliances, they’ll fall in line.”

She stops beside me, her hand resting on the back of my chair as she leans down slightly, her voice dropping to a low murmur. “Start with Crescent Moon.”
I glance at her, my jaw tightening. “Crescent Moon is already on board. Damien voiced his support.”

Sabrina’s lips curve into a knowing smile as her hand moves, brushing against my shoulder. “Damien voiced his support,” she echoes, her tone skeptical. “But words are cheap, Kael. You need his commitment. His loyalty. And I can help with that.” Her fingers trail down my arm, her touch light but deliberate, sending an unwelcome heat coursing through me. “I can convince Damien to give you his full backing,” she murmurs, her eyes locking onto mine.

“If you’ll let me.” Her words linger in the air, heavy with implication, and I feel my wolf stir uneasily. My chest tightens, and my fists clench on the desk as I try to focus on her words, not the way her touch burns through the fabric of my shirt.

“You’re too tense, Kael,” she says softly, her fingers trailing lower as she moves behind me, her hands brushing over my shoulders. “Relax. Let me help you. Together, we can make this vision of yours a reality.” Her hands slide down my chest, lingering for a moment before she steps back, her lips curving
into a smirk. “Think about it, Alpha,” she says, her voice silky. “You don’t have to do this alone.

Not when you have someone like me… willing to do whatever it takes.” She turns, her hips swaying as she walks toward the door, but she pauses just before leaving, glancing over her shoulder. “Let me know when you’re ready to take this seriously.”

The door clicks shut behind her, and I exhale sharply, leaning back in my chair as the tension coils tighter in my chest. Her words, her touch, the fire in her eyes—it’s all too much, and my wolf snarls in frustration.

I rub a hand over my face, trying to clear my mind. Sabrina’s right about one thing. I need to be strategic. But her presence, her touch… it complicates everything. And yet, the thought lingers…What if she’s right?

SIX MONTHS LATER

Talia’s POV

The air is heavy with the promise of rain as I walk alongside Rhea, the sound of our footsteps muffled by the soft earth beneath us. The path to Grandma’s den is quiet, save for the occasional rustle of leaves in the wind. My chest feels tight, and my mind churns with a storm of emotions I can’t seem to settle.

“What’s wrong?” Rhea asks, her voice soft but perceptive as always. She glances at me, her golden eyes filled with concern. I hesitate, my steps faltering slightly. For a moment, I consider brushing her off, but the weight in my chest feels too heavy to carry alone. “

It’s everything,” I admit finally, my voice barely above a whisper. “Everything?” Rhea prods gently, tilting her head. I sigh, running a hand through my hair. “I still haven’t been able to… to get pregnant,” I say, my voice breaking slightly.

“Kael and I… we’ve been trying, but nothing. It’s been months, Rhea.” Rhea stays quiet, waiting for me to continue. “I can feel the distance,” I confess, my throat tightening. “It’s not just that we haven’t conceived. It’s like there’s a wall between us now. My wolf feels it too—Eira feels it. It’s like something is
shifting, pulling him away from me.”

Rhea places a comforting hand on my arm, her touch grounding me, but it doesn’t stop the torrent of thoughts spilling out. “And Sabrina…” I pause, my jaw tightening.

“She’s always there, whispering in his ear, gaining more influence. I hate it. I hate how she looks at him, how she talks to him, like she’s the one
who belongs by his side. And sometimes… sometimes I wonder if he’s starting to think she’s right.” “Talia,” Rhea says firmly, squeezing my arm. “Stop. You’re spiraling.”
