Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 38 – Kael doesn’t rush. His touch is a slow burn, starting at my shoulders, his fingers trailing down
the length of my arms before sliding to the curve of my waist.
Each brush of his skin against mine sends shivers racing down my spine, igniting something deep within me that I can’t contain.
His lips follow the path of his hands, kissing the hollow of my throat, the sensitive slope of my collarbone, and lower, pausing to whisper words of reverence against my skin. “
Every inch of your body is perfect,” he murmurs, his breath warm and reverent, and the words sink into me, melting away the last fragments of my doubt.
“You’re perfect.” He lays me down gently, his weight pressing into me just enough to make me feel grounded, connected, like the world outside has ceased to exist. His hands continue their slow journey,
skimming down my hips, gripping them with just enough strength to pull me closer. His touch is unhurried, deliberate, each movement designed to unravel me completely. Kael’s gaze holds mine, his eyes dark and full of promise, as his lips descend again, tasting every part of me with an intensity that makes my breath hitch.
I cling to him, my hands tangling in his hair, pulling him closer as heat coils tighter and tighter inside me, until I feel like I might break apart.
And then he stops, his hands framing my face, his eyes searching mine as if asking for permission one last time.
I nod, my chest heaving, and he leans in, his lips brushing against mine in a kiss so deep, so consuming, it feels like it’s stealing the air from my lungs.
When he finally claims me, it’s not rushed or frenzied. It’s a slow, deliberate surrender, a melding of bodies and souls that leaves no room for hesitation.
Each movement feels like a vow, a silent promise that we are bound together now, in every way that matters. The tension in me snaps, and I shatter beneath him, my cries filling the space between us as waves of pleasure crash over me. He holds me through it, his hands steady on my waist, his
whispered praises grounding me as I come undone.
And when it’s over, as we lie tangled together, his warmth surrounding me, I feel something I’ve never felt before—a sense of wholeness, of completeness. In his arms, I feel my full power, my full womanhood—everything I’ve ever doubted falling away. I’m no longer just Talia. I’m his Luna, bound to him by fate and choice, ready to face whatever comes next. Together, we are unstoppable.
The air inside the Pack Hall feels electric, humming with tension and power as Alphas from every pack gather for the Convocation of the Claw. The room is a swirl of conversation, sharp eyes watching every move, every glance exchanged. Kael stands tall at my side, exuding the calm, commanding presence of an Alpha with a vision, but I know him well enough to sense the undercurrent of tension beneath his composed exterior.
Ronan stands nearby, his shoulders squared, a quiet confidence radiating from him as he surveys the room. I spot Sabrina next to him, her sharp green eyes scanning the crowd with practiced ease. It’s only then that I realize something is off. Sabrina’s presence feels out ofplace—too close to Kae l’s circle of trust.
I lean closer to Kael, lowering my voice so only he can hear. “When did you appoint Sabrina as one of your advisers?”
He glances at me, surprised by the question. “Yesterday,” he replies, his tone even. “It was a last-minute decision. She’s well-connected, and her ties to Crescent Moon are valuable for what we’re trying to accomplish.” A pang of hurt flares in my chest, but I force it down, nodding as though his answer satisfies me. “I see,” I murmur, stepping back slightly.
Kael’s hand grazes mine briefly, grounding me. “You’re my Luna, Talia,” he says softly, his voice carrying the weight of our bond. “Nothing changes that. Trust me.” I nod again, willing the sting of his decision to fade. He didn’t tell me, but it doesn’t matter. We’re stronger than this. I’m his Luna, in every way.
Kael turns to address Ronan, giving him instructions to approach the Alpha of Bloodstone, and then turns to me.
“I need you to work the room,” he says, his tone firm but warm. “Talk to the Alphas. Build bridges. Shadow Ridge’s success depends on it.”
I smile tightly, pushing down the unease still gnawing at me. “Of course, Kael.”
I step into the crowd, offering polite nods and carefully crafted smiles as I move from one Alpha to the next. Each conversation feels like a performance, each word chosen with precision. But even as I throw myself into the task, something inside me feels unsettled. The doors to the hall creak open suddenly, and a hush falls over the room.
My head snaps up, and my breath catches as the latecomer strides in. Lucian Blackwood – Alpha of Darkfang. His presence dominates the room instantly. His dark hair falls just past his ears in artful disarray, and his piercing, nearly black eyes sweep the crowd with a quiet, dangerous confidence.
He moves with the ease of someone who knows exactly how much power he holds and has no need to flaunt it. Something stirs inside me, a pull so strong it’s almost dizzying. My wolf, Eira, stirs too, her voice murmuring faintly in my mind. “Who is he?”
I force myself to steady my breathing, my heart pounding inexplicably. I catch his eyes as they sweep the room, and when they lock onto mine, I feel it—something I can’t name, something I don’t want to name. It’s electric, like a spark leaping between us, and for a moment, the world narrows to just the two of us.
“Focus, Talia,” I mutter to myself, shaking my head as I take a step forward. Kael asked me to curry favor. That’s all this is. I approach Lucian, my chin high and my smile calculated. “Alpha Blackwood,” I say smoothly, extending a hand. “Welcome to the Convocation of the Claw. I’m Talia, Luna of Shadow Ridge.”
Lucian takes my hand, his touch warm but firm. His lips curl into a faint smile, though his dark eyes gleam with something sharper.
“Luna Talia,” he says, his voice low and rich, “Shadow Ridge is lucky to have such… capable representation.” The compliment feels layered, and I bristle slightly, though I force myself to keep my smile in place. “Thank you,” I reply. “It’s an honor to host leaders from all the packs. We’re stronger when
we work together, wouldn’t you agree?” Lucian’s smile deepens, a flicker of amusement crossing his face.
“Stronger, perhaps. Or simply more entangled.” The subtle jab isn’t lost on me, and I tilt my head slightly, my own smile sharpening.
“Entanglement can be valuable,” I counter lightly. “As long as it’s built on trust and shared goals.”
Lucian chuckles softly, the sound low and almost dangerous. “You’re clever,” he says, his eyes glinting with approval. “I like that.”
