Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 21 – A Darkguard warrior steps into the room, his face flushed from battle, clothes torn, a faint smear
of blood across his cheek. His eyes dart between Lucian and me, and he swallows before delivering the news.
“Alpha,” he says, his voice tense. “Kael’s forces…they’ve retreated. For now, they seem satisfied with what they’ve taken. The Outer Lands are under their control.” A heavy silence falls over the room, the weight of his words sinking into us. We’ve fought hard, but it isn’t enough.
Kael has seized a part of Darkguard territory. My heart aches at the thought of all we’ve lost tonight, of the lives touched by the battle. Lucian steps forward, his hand clasping the warrior’s shoulder. “You fought well,” he says, hisvoice filled with a quiet pride that wa rms the room. “
All of you did. Tonight, we protected our home. And while this isn’t over, you’ve given them something to remember.” The warrior nods, a spark of renewed confidence in his eyes. “Thank you, Alpha.” He gives a respectful bow, then leaves the room, and with him, the rest of the Darkguard warriors file out.
Cade, lingering a moment, casts me a quick, inscrutable look before he disappears into the shadows. Once we’re alone, the silence fills the room, heavy and intimate. I turn to Lucian, my body still tense with worry, the adrenaline from battle still humming in my veins.
“What if they come back?” I murmur, the question a whisper of fear. Lucian steps closer, his hand reaching for mine, his thumb tracing soft, soothing circles over my knuckles. “We’ll be ready,” he says, his voice firm but gentle, a bedrock of strength. “And tonight…you showed them exactly what they’re up against. You fought with courage, with heart, Talia. You’ve made me prouder than I can put into words.”
The tenderness in his voice unravels me, a sudden wave of emotion crashing over me. I blink back tears, feeling his warmth, his quiet strength holding me together. “Lucian…” My voice falters, and he lifts my hand, pressing a soft kiss to my knuckles. “Come,” he murmurs, his voice dropping to a husky whisper. He draws me close, his gazeintense, filled with a mix of pride and something deeper, something vulnerable and raw.
Without another word, he leads me to our bed, his hand warm and reassuring in mine. The world fades away as we step into the quiet sanctuary of our room, the soft light casting shadows that dance across his face. He turns to me, his eyes dark with an emotion that makes my heart flutter. Slowly, he reaches out, brushing a stray lock of hair behind my ear, his fingers lingering against my cheek.
“Talia,” he whispers, his voice barely more than a breath. “You’re my Luna…my everything.” His words seep into me, filling every hollow, every ache. I feel myself opening, giving in, letting go of every last barrier between us. I reach up, my hand trembling as I touch his face, feeling the warmth of his skin beneath my fingers. “Lucian…I’m yours,” I whisper, the words a vow, a promise.
His gaze holds mine for a moment longer, and then, gently, he lowers his mouth to mine. The kiss is soft at first, a gentle claiming, but it deepens, a spark igniting between us that spreads like fire. His hands move to my waist, pulling me closer, and I sink into him, feeling the strength of his arms, the solid warmth of his chest.
We move together, a silent rhythm, his hands tracing a path down my back, his touch both soothing and electrifying. Every brush of his lips, every whisper of his breath against my skin, feels like a promise — a vow of protection, of love, of forever. He lifts me, guiding me to the bed, and as we sink into the soft sheets, the world outside fades away. His hands explore, gentle yet possessive, his touch leaving trails of warmth in its wake.
My heart pounds, my body melting under his, every touch, every kiss binding us closer, deeper. As he gazes down at me, his eyes dark with emotion, I feel the weight of this moment — the sacredness, the vulnerability, the truth of what we are to each other. “I love you, Talia,” he murmurs, his voice rough, filled with emotion. “More than I can ever say.” I reach up, cupping his face, my heart swelling with a fierce, unwavering love. “
And I love you,” I whisper, feeling the truth of the words settle deep within me. “With everything I am.” He leans down, capturing my lips in a kiss that is both gentle and consuming, a promise and a surrender, igniting something deep within me that I can no longer hold back. His hands glide along my sides, fingertips grazing my skin in a way that sends shivers down my spine, as though he’s memorizing every inch, every curve, like I’m something sacred.
His lips leave a trail down my jaw, lingering at the pulse in my neck, where I feel his breath hot and uneven. I arch into him, gasping as he explores, his touch both reverent and possessive. His fingers trace slow, tantalizing lines along my skin, leaving warmth in their wake, setting my body alight.
The way he looks at me — a mix of hunger and devotion — makes my heart race. There’s a tenderness in his gaze that melts me, a promise that this moment is ours alone, unbreakable and eternal.
My fingers slip into his hair, pulling him closer, and he responds, his hands pressing me against him as though he can’t bear to let me go.
He moves over me, his touch slow, intentional, each caress a silent declaration. Our breaths mingle, our hearts beating in sync, as though we are two halves finding completion. I feel myself yielding, opening to him completely, trusting him with everything I am.
We move together, a rhythm that feels as ancient as the earth, each movement deliberate, drawing us closer, deeper. His name escapes my lips, a whisper that carries all the love and longing I can’t contain, and he responds with a soft murmur against my skin, words I can’t make out but that resonate through me, sinking into my soul.
Every touch, every press of his body against mine, binds us, etches him into my being. Time fades, leaving only the warmth of his skin, the strength of his arms, the way he holds me like I’m his whole world.
When the intensity builds, when the world blurs around us, he leans down, his forehead resting against mine, our breaths tangled, our gazes locked. There’s a moment suspended in time, where we are neither past nor future, only this — only us. As we come undone together, a warmth blooms inside me, an overwhelming sense of belonging, of being exactly where I’m meant to be. He cradles me, his hands gentle as he brushes a strand of hair from my face, his gaze soft and vulnerable.
In his arms, I find peace, a sanctuary, a home. I am his, and he is mine, bound together by fate, by love, by something greater than either of us.
And as we lie together in the quiet aftermath, his arms wrapped around me, I know that whatever battles lie ahead, whatever trials we face, we
will face them together. Because I am, now and forever, Talia Hale, Luna of Darkfang, fated to an eternal bond with Alpha Lucian Blackwood.
