Moonborn Heir

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 15

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 15 – Lucian leads me out of the buzzing breakfast hall, his hand warm and steady on the small of my back.

The moment we’re in the cool morning air, away from the watchful eyes of the pack, he turns to me with a look that makes my heart skip.
“It’s time for you to come home, Talia,” he says, his voice low, laced with a gentleness I didn’t expect. “To my home. Our home.”

I blink, the weight of his words sinking in. “You mean your…the Governor’s Mansion?” I stammer, trying to process it. I’ve seen Lucian’s Mansion once, from a distance, its stone towers looming in the dense, shadowed forest of Darkfang territory. It feels like something out of a dream, both beautiful and foreboding, and the thought of living there with him makes my pulse quicken.

He nods, a faint smile touching his lips as he takes my hand. “Yes. I want you by my side, Talia. Always.” His gaze softens, and he brushes his thumb over my knuckles, sending a shiver up my spine. “You’re my mate, my Luna. You belong with me.”

As we walk, the weight of everything settles around me, and I can feel Eira stirring, her presence warm and curious. Our home, Lucian had said. The thought alone feels surreal. “Do you feel it, Talia?” Eira’s voice whispers, her tone filled with awe. “Feel what?” I ask her silently, though I already know. There’s a quiet hum in the air, a sense of rightness that has settled within me since last night, since Lucian claimed me.

“This bond…it’s strong, powerful. He’s not just your mate, Talia. He’s something more, something destined.” Eira’s voice is soft but filled with a reverence that sends chills through me. “Fate brought us together, didn’t it?” I murmur to her, my heart swelling with both fear and elation. “Something greater than either of us.”

Lucian’s hand tightens around mine as if sensing my thoughts, and we continue walking in silence. The quiet of the forest settles around us like a veil. It’s beautiful here, the sun filtering through the trees, casting dappled shadows that play across the path. And yet, there’s a weight in the air, a tension that lingers between us, as though we’re both aware of something unspoken, something waiting to be revealed.

Finally, Lucian breaks the silence, his voice thoughtful, almost wistful. “Do you believe in fate, Talia?” His question catches me off guard, and I look up at him, my heart pounding. “I…I don’t know. I used to think fate was just a story. Something people tell themselves to make sense of things
they can’t control.” I pause, my gaze drifting to the trees around us. “But now…I don’t know. Meeting you, becoming your mate…it feels like it was all meant to happen this way.”

Lucian’s lips curve in a small, knowing smile. “Some things are written in the stars, Talia. Destined to be, no matter how hard we fight against them.” His eyes grow distant, as if he’s recalling something long-buried, and his voice drops to a murmur. “There is a prophecy…one that speaks of a child. A child born under the light of the moon, destined to unite the packs and bring peace to our kind.”

My breath catches, my pulse racing. “A child…born under the moon…” My voice falters, and a chill runs down my spine. The Moonborn Heir. I swallow, trying to keep my voice steady. “Why…why are you telling me this, Lucian?” He stops, turning to face me fully, his gaze piercing, as though he’s searching for something within me. “Because, Talia, I’ve always known this prophecy.

Since I was young, the elders whispered of it, of a time when our world would change. Our oracle, Lunara, told me that I would play a part in it — that I would be there when the Moonborn Heir rises.” My knees buckle, and I sway, a strange dizziness sweeping over me. Lucian…involved in the
prophecy of the Moonborn Heir? The thought is overwhelming, too enormous to fully grasp.

“Talia!” Lucian’s arm wraps around my waist, steadying me, his concern evident as he pulls me close, his grip strong and reassuring. “Are you alright?”

I nod, my breath coming in shallow gasps as I fight to regain my composure. “I…I just…I didn’t expect…” I trail off, searching his face, feeling the weight of his revelation settle over me like a tangible thing. “It’s just…my grandmother told me the same prophecy, Lucian. On her deathbed.

She…she told me that I would play a role in it, too. She said it was my destiny.”

His gaze softens, and he lifts his hand to gently cup my face, his thumb brushing softly over my cheek. His voice is steady, filled with a quiet conviction that sends a shiver through me. “This isn’t coincidence, Talia. You and I…we were drawn together for a reason, by forces beyond our
understanding. This is the bond that fate has woven, one that even time itself can’t break.

I feel it in every breath, in every beat of my heart. You are my Luna…and together, we’re destined to change everything.” The tenderness in his voice sends another shiver through me, and I feel the tension ease, replaced by a strange sense of certainty.

We were brought together by something bigger than us, a force neither of us fully understands. But in this moment, with Lucian’s touch grounding
me, I feel ready to face whatever comes.

Without another word, he slips his hand back into mine, and we continue walking, the path
winding deeper into the woods.
