Pedro smiled. “No problem, I’ll be the nanny, and you can be the breadwinner.” Kathryn smiled too. “We won’t lack the money to raise the baby. I just want my company to keep growing. As the business expands, one of us will need to make sacrifices for the family.
When the baby starts kindergarten, we’ll get a break. Do you prefer a son or a daughter?” Pedro replied, “As long as it’s our child, I’ll love them, boy or girl. I won’t favor one over the other, and you shouldn’t feel pressured about it.” “I don’t feel pressured about having a son.
I used to worry about having a daughter, but not anymore. Now, I’m free from that burden.” Kathryn leaned back, feeling liberated. She wouldn’t be taking over the Farrell family, which meant she didn’t have to follow their rules.
As she looked out the window, she noticed a familiar car passing by in the opposite lane. She turned her head to follow it. Pedro asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Check if that car belongs to my eldest brother. If it does, my dad must have called him. But it doesn’t matter-my brother can’t control me.”
Kathryn was sometimes grateful she didn’t grow up with her biological parents and didn’t have strong emotional ties to them allowed her the freedom to do as she pleased without feeling O obligated to her family.
If she had grown up with them, it would have been harder to make decisions independently, and she would have had to consider her father and brothers’ feelings.
Meanwhile, Marco was on his way het to the hospital, confused about why Holden had called him there. He wondered if his father’s condition had worsened.
The doctor had said the bullet was removed, and Holden’s life wasn’t in danger, despite some blood loss Marco didn’t want to lose his father after already losing his mother. When he arrived at the hospital, he parked his car and rushed into the ward.
He saw Holden sitting up with a pillow behind him, and the servant was washing some grapes. Relieved, Marco asked, “Dad, why did you call me in such a hurry? I thought something had happened to you.”
The servant greeted Marco respectfully and said, “The young lady just left.” Marco was surprised. “Kathryn was here?” Since Holden was injured, Kathryn hadn’t visited, and Marco thought she didn’t care about their father.
