Holden wanted to call out to her, but no words came. He could only watch her leave with anger and resentment. Once Kathryn was out of sight, Holden cursed, “Ungrateful daughter! That horrible Clarissa gave me this ungrateful daughter!”
“How dare she speak to her father like that! Doesn’t she fear karma?” “If you don’t listen to your father, you’ll regret it later. She’ll lose all the benefits she’s worked for. I’ve never seen such a fool!”
Holden was furious that Kathryn ignored his advice and spoke to him so harshly, but he couldn’t do anything about it. Kathryn’s strength reminded him too much of her mother. At first, Holden thought Kathryn was spoiled.
Even though Shiloh’s biological parents hadn’t treated Kathryn well, Kathryn still managed to stand strong. Now, Shiloh’s relatives were too scared to even approach Kathryn.
Shiloh’s death must have taught them a lesson. Only the old butler had been punished for what happened to Shiloh, and the rest were spared because Kathryn acknowledged they had raised her. But if they tried to take advantage of her now, they would face the same fate as Shiloh.
As for Shiloh, whom the Farrell family had raised for over 20 years, they had given up on her. No one dared to test the Farrell family’s patience again. Kathryn walked out of the hospital’s inpatient department.
Pedro was waiting at the door. When he saw Kathryn, he walked over and draped a coat over her shoulders, saying, “It’s cold outside. You should wear something warmer.” “I’m not cold,” Kathryn replied, but she still accepted his gesture.
They walked toward the hospital parking lot together. Pedro asked, “Did things not go well with Mr. Janzen? You didn’t look happy when you came out.”
Kathryn was quiet for a while before answering, “My mother’s past worries weren’t for nothing.” Pedro realized that Holden had tried to take advantage of her. “Did Mr. Janzen make unreasonable demands?”
“Not unreasonable,” Kathryn replied, “but our relationship isn’t like a normal father and daughter. He doesn’t care about me, and I don’t care about him.”
Pedro opened the car door, and after Kathryn got in, she removed the coat he’d given her. Once Pedro joined her inside, she continued, “My dad wants to divide the assets my mom left behind. But in her will, she made it clear that her personal property
wouldn’t go to him. She must have never fully trusted him, worrying he’d use her assets on other women.””My mom didn’t want her wealth benefiting anyone else. Even when my dad moved into the house, he had no real authority in the Farrell family.
She was strong-willed, and he had no say. Despite his frustrations, he couldn’t challenge her.”
“My mom’s will stated that my three brothers would take care of him in his old age, but I think she changed her mind later. Now, with everything going on, I’m overwhelmed and haven’t had time to address her estate.”

WOW! I felt sorry for Holden but he sold his sole for money a long time ago. I find he is still thinking the same way. What benefits him and his Jansen family. Sometimes I can see the Matriarch’s thinking. The men were weak and conniving. Not willing to put forth the energy to have and earn for themselves. It was easier to be a parasite due to their so called entittlement.
