Kathryn replied, “Yes, you’re my father. But so what? I’m a Farrell, and I’ll be the head of this family if I choose to. You don’t get a say in that.”
She walked back to his bedside, leaned in close, and locked eyes with him, making her determination clear. “Dad, listen carefully. You couldn’t control Mom when she was alive, and you can’t control me now that she’s gone.
Just because I’m your daughter doesn’t mean you can tell me what to do.” Kathryn sneered, “Do you know why Mom shot you? She knew exactly what you’d do. She knew that once she was gone, you’d try to boss me around and hold me back.
She was right about you. You barely survived, and now you’re already trying to control me.” She continued, “Dad, I’m Clarissa’s daughter. You know what kind of person she was. I’ve inherited most of her traits.
You’ll get your monthly allowance out of respect for our father-daughter bond. But if you don’t appreciate it, don’t expect me to be kind.
Oh, and let’s be honest-we never really had a father-daughter bond. Your love went to your sons and Shiloh, not me, your real daughter. If you push me too far, life won’t be easy for any of you. I won’t kill anyone like Mom did, but I’make sure you regret it.”
Kathryn straightened up, ignoring the shock on Holden’s face. Coldly, she said, “Dad, the decision you made with Mom when you found out Mr. Jimenez was alive was probably the smartest one.”
