His Rejection at Altar Choosing Over The Alpha Chapter 3 – The Perfect Match and a Quiet Exit

I watched as Delta Carmen smoothly handed Alpha Quinn a drink, leaned in to whisper something in his ear, and the two of them shared a knowing smile.

My first reaction wasn’t anger. Instead, the phrase “perfect match” suddenly popped into my mind.

Alpha Quinn and Delta Carmen finally made their way near me.

“Hey,” he said, as if we’d run into each other by coincidence and not because he had told me he’d pick me up and then never showed.

Delta Carmen gave me a polite nod, her arm still loosely wrapped around his.

I stood up slowly, smoothed out the creases in my dress, and said nothing.

“You came late,” he added, as if it were my fault.

I offered a soft smile. “Traffic.”

He didn’t catch the edge in my voice—or maybe he just chose not to.

Delta Carmen leaned closer to him, whispering something again. He laughed.

The sound rang hollow in my ears.

“I’ll go say hi to a few more people,” he told me absently, already half-turned away.

I nodded.

He didn’t even notice how stiffly I was standing. How still I was. How my fingers had curled tightly into my palm.

Delta Carmen followed him like a shadow.

They really were a perfect match.

She was sharp, poised, always by his side when he needed her. He looked at her with ease, comfort—even admiration. When was the last time he’d looked at me like that?

The rest of the night blurred. I stayed just long enough for it to be polite.

I didn’t wait for him to return.

Quietly, I slipped out the back exit, letting the laughter and clinking glasses fade behind me.

Outside, the night air was cold and sharp. For a moment, I just stood there, breathing.

I took out my phone and stared at our old messages again.

[Not coming home tonight.]
[Don’t overthink it.]
[Take a cab.]

I deleted the entire chat thread.

Then I turned off my phone.

I didn’t know where I was going, but I started walking anyway.

For the first time in a long while, I wasn’t waiting for Alpha Quinn.

I was just… leaving.
