His Lies My Revenge

His Lies My Revenge Novel Chapter 7

His Lies My Revenge Novel Chapter 7 – Martin sat by the hospital bed.

The voice on the phone was loud enough for Rachel to hear every word. Before he could react, she was already putting on a show.

“Jessie’s in trouble? Is it… because of me?” she asked, eyes wide with fake guilt. “Martin, you should go to her. I’m okay now. You two have fought so many times because of me. If she’s really bringing up that case from five years ago, it’s going to affect you. I’m so sorry… If only I hadn’t shown up at the family dinner, maybe she wouldn’t have remembered any of it…”

Martin’s face went ghost-white. He hung up quickly, not wanting Rachel to hear more about what was happening at the station.

Still, his first instinct was to defend me. “No… Jessie wouldn’t do that. She’s probably just upset and wants me to go after her. She promised she wouldn’t revisit the case. This has nothing to do with her, so don’t overthink it. Just focus on recovering. I’ll ask Mom to come take care of you. I have something to deal with at the station.”

Rachel nodded, as if she understood, but just as he stood up, she clutched her stomach and cried out.

“Ow, Martin! It hurts… Is the wound bleeding again? Can you… can you just stay a little longer?”

She wore that same fragile, innocent look she’d perfected over the years, soft, scared, utterly manipulative.

But this time, Martin didn’t take the bait.

There was a flicker of hesitation in his eyes, but his voice came out firm and cold. “I’ll call the doctor. Don’t move. Rachel, I’ve got something important to deal with. Stop making a scene.”

Her hand froze in midair, reaching for him.

He didn’t even glance back as he walked out, didn’t call for a nurse, didn’t offer another word.

Jealousy twisted across Rachel’s face, followed by a dangerous calm.

She knew: visit novelkoo.com! if I ever found out the truth, I wouldn’t stay. Even if I were still alive, there’d be no place for me in the family again. And after this “falling down the stairs” stunt, even if I tried to defend myself, no one would believe me.

In her eyes, I had always been the loser. Just like five years ago. And nothing had changed.

To Martin and Mark, the one they protected, cherished, had always been her.

There was no room for anyone else.

Martin rushed out of the hospital and jumped into his car, speeding toward the precinct.

His work chat was blowing up with messages:

“Wait, the hostage is actually the murderer? That makes no sense.”

“Didn’t Martin personally examine the Sward couple? The case was ruled an accident!”

“Now they’re saying it was a clean stab to the heart?”

“Is someone actually accusing Martin of falsifying an autopsy? Has he completely lost it?”

“So the traitor rumors back then… were fake? Those two helped us so much during the investigation… Did we get it all wrong?”

Martin glanced at his phone, and his entire world seemed to collapse.

He’d locked away every single file from that case, buried the truth in the back of his study like that would keep it from surfacing.

But what rattled him most was that I still hadn’t responded.

Not a call. Not a text. Nothing.

His thoughts snapped back to me, and to the baby I’d been carrying.

A sharp ache tore through his chest. He pounded his fist against the steering wheel.

Damn it.

How could he have forgotten?

I was pregnant too. And I had fallen down the stairs. But in the heat of the moment, after Rachel pointed a finger at me, he’d forgotten everything. Me. Our child.

It was 11:37 PM.

Doubt came crashing down on him like a tidal wave.

With his heart racing and guilt eating him alive, Martin floored the gas pedal, racing toward the station.
