After Losing His Memory, He Begged My Forgiveness Novel Chapter 21 – Melissa’s Last Attempt

The next morning, Lily was sipping tea by the window when her phone buzzed.

Unknown Number.
She almost declined it.

But curiosity won.

“Hello?”

A familiar voice came through, sweet as syrup and twice as fake.
“Lily. It’s Melissa.”

Lily didn’t reply.

“I thought we should talk,” Melissa continued. “Woman to woman. I’ve realized something—you won. You always win, don’t you?”

Lily set her mug down slowly. “Get to the point.”

Melissa let out a brittle laugh. “I just want to meet. One last time. No drama, no claws. A little closure—for both of us.”

“No.”

Melissa sighed. “Don’t you even want to know the whole truth? About John? About what really happened the night I showed up at your house? I think you do.”

Click.

Lily ended the call.

She had no use for Melissa’s games anymore. The past was like an open wound—but Lily was finally healing. Still, unease crawled up her spine.

By noon, a courier dropped off a large manila envelope.

Inside: a flash drive, and a note.

Watch this. Then tell me again you don’t care. – M

Against her better judgment, Lily plugged it in.

Footage loaded—a hotel hallway, timestamped nearly a year ago. John, clearly drunk, stumbling. Melissa guiding him toward a room. He resisted. Repeatedly.

“No,” John slurred. “I’m married. I have a daughter. Don’t want this.”

Melissa kept smiling, kept pushing.

And then—Lily watched in cold disbelief—Melissa slipped something into his drink.

The next clip: her, emerging alone from the hotel room hours later. Fixing her hair. Smirking.

Lily sat frozen.

Her hands shook, but not from heartbreak.

From fury.

All this time, Melissa had played victim. Had painted Lily as the bitter wife clinging to a loveless marriage.

But the truth?

Melissa had drugged him. Framed him. Used him.

Lily forwarded the footage to her lawyer, along with a brief message:

I want this legally documented. And I want her nowhere near my child.

A few hours later, the lawyer called.

“We can press charges. And if she contacts your daughter again, we’ll have a restraining order ready.”

Lily thanked him and hung up.

Outside, John was on the balcony, painting with their daughter. She had a smear of blue on her cheek, and he was laughing as she painted a star on his shirt.

Lily watched them through the glass.

It wasn’t forgiveness.

But it was something.

And now—finally—Melissa was out of the picture.
