“Five minutes,” my mother whispered, adjusting the veil on my hair. “Just five more minutes, sweetheart.”

For the first time, I didn’t feel anger toward him. Just… nothing.”

And I turned my back on him one last time.
Later that night, as I sat in my bridal suite, I heard my phone buzz. I picked it up and stared at the screen.

I felt something shift inside me. For a second, I wanted to reply. To say thank you. To say I miss you.
But I wasn’t ready. Not yet. So I placed the phone down without responding. And as I did, the door opened, and Cole
walked in.
“Why do you look like you’re deep in thought?” Cole asked, leaning against the doorway.
I sighed, shaking my head. “Just… thinking.”
He stepped closer, cupping my face in his hands. “Are you nervous?”
“A little,” I admitted.
“You shouldn’t be,” he murmured. “Tomorrow, you’re marrying me. And I’ll spend the rest of my life making you happy.”
My lips curled into a soft smile. “You already do.”
He grinned. “Then stop thinking.”
And then he kissed me. And just like that–every doubt, every lingering shadow of the past disappeared.
The next morning, I stood at the entrance of the chapel, my heart racing. The doors opened, and all eyes turned to me. But I only saw one person.”
