After Losing His Memory, He Begged My Forgiveness Novel Chapter 1

After Losing His Memory, He Begged My Forgiveness Novel Chapter 1 –
It was the day before my divorce.

John Jameson, my soon-to-be-ex-husband, got drunk, fell, and hit the back of his head. Now he has amnesia, and the doctor says he only remembers things from five years ago. Looking at him – all doe-eyed and devoted – I couldn’t help but feel a flicker of something. Five years ago, John was crazy about me.

When I arrived at the hospital room, Melissa Moore was already there.

“What are you doing here?” John shoved her away, his face twisted in disgust. “Don’t you know I’m married? Get lost!”

Melissa burst into tears. She ran out, bumping into me in the doorway. The venomous glare she shot me suggested I was somehow responsible for her misery.

I ignored her and entered the room. John’s face lit up when he saw me.

“Lily, you’re here!”

Lily. He hadn’t called me that in years.

The doctor explained his amnesia was caused by a brain bruise. He only remembered life before the accident – from five years ago. I wouldn’t have known about any of this if not for John’s mother. To everyone in John’s current life, I was ancient history. Yet he’d been making a scene at the hospital, demanding to see me since waking up. His mother finally relented and called me.

“Lily,” John said, his voice brimming with excitement, “they told me we’re married!”

I didn’t reply. He hurried to get me an apple.
“Lily, it’s washed! And it’s sweet!”

He was so attentive, so focused on me, but I just stared back, emotionless.
This was the John from five years ago—the one who adored me.
But things were different now.

I took two steps back, putting distance between us.
“Did they tell you we’re getting divorced?”

The smile on John’s face faltered. He clearly knew about the divorce.

“It’s all lies!” he rambled. “They’re trying to break us up! Lily, you know I love you enough to die for you—why would I ever divorce you? They’re making it up!”

He paused, waiting for my agreement, then smiled again.
“They even found some ugly woman and claimed she’s my girlfriend—all to split us up! That woman had our divorce papers! Bullshit! She forged my signature. She’s dead meat when I get out of here.. read this novel on novelkoo”

“John,” I interrupted, rubbing my temples, “it’s all true. You hired a lawyer to draw up the divorce papers. You signed them. That woman—”

“Impossible!”

He refused to believe he’d want a divorce.
He refused to believe he’d cheat on me.
He thought he loved me too much to betray me.

I used to think so too.

John grabbed my hand, insisting there must be an explanation.
“Lily, what if I have cancer? What if I’m doing this to push you away? That’s it! I’m getting a full body scan right now!”

As he yelled for the doctor, I checked my phone—time to pick up our daughter from school.

I pulled my hand away. Meeting his pitiful, puppy-dog eyes, I said slowly and clearly:
“It’s all true. You’re the CEO of Jameson Corp. No one would dare lie to you.”
