Moonborn Heir

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 33

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 33 – My legs feel like they might give out beneath me as I stand on the dais beside Kael.

The air is electric, every eye in the Pack Hall fixed on us, the weight of their stares suffocating. My heart races, each beat echoing in my ears as I fight to process what’s happening. This can’t be real. It can’t.

Kael turns to face me fully, his imposing frame towering over mine, his piercing grey eyes burning with intensity. When he looks at me, it’s as though the entire room falls away. My knees threaten to buckle, but his presence keeps me steady, as though his strength alone is anchoring me to this moment.

“Talia,” Kael says, his voice deep and resonant, carrying through the hall. It’s not just a voice; it’s a command, a declaration, and a promise all at once. The Alpha speaking to his pack, to his wolves, but also… to me. “Fate has brought us here. The moon has spoken. And I, Kael Winters, Alpha of Shadow Ridge, accept you as my fated mate.”

A collective gasp ripples through the room, the disbelief palpable, but I can barely hear it over the roar in my head. My entire body is trembling, and I feel like I might collapse under the weight of his words.

Kael reaches for my hand, and the moment his skin touches mine, the world tilts. A surge of energy shoots through me, powerful and undeniable, and Eira howls in my mind, her voice rich with joy and certainty. “This is our destiny, Talia. Say yes. Say yes!”

I try to speak, but my throat feels tight, my breath caught in my chest. My gaze flickers to the crowd—Sabrina’s face twisted in fury, Selene’s glare cold and murderous, Ronan standing frozen among the Shadow Guard. Everyone is watching, waiting. “Do you accept me as your mate?” Kael asks, his voice softer now, but no less commanding.

His eyes search mine, and for the first time, I see something beneath the authority—vulnerability. A glimmer of hope that I can’t bring myself to shatter.
“I…” My voice cracks, and I swallow hard, my thoughts a jumbled mess. How is this happening?

How can someone like me stand here, chosen by someone like him? It doesn’t feel real. I’m just a maid—a nobody. How could I ever be enough to stand beside an Alpha, to bear the weight of being Luna? The doubt claws at my chest, threatening to pull me under.

But the warmth of his hand in mine, the intensity of his gaze, the steady hum of the mate bond pulling us together—it’s all too vivid to deny.
Kael steps closer, his voice dropping to a low murmur meant only for me. “Talia, this is fate. I see you. I choose you. Trust me.

The conviction in his tone breaks something inside me, and I realize that no matter how terrified I am, no matter how much I doubt myself, there’s no denying the pull between us. It’s raw, unyielding, and it demands to be answered. “Yes,” I whisper, the word barely audible.

Kael’s eyes burn brighter, and he lifts his chin, his voice rising again to address the pack. “Talia Hale has accepted me as her mate. Under the light of the moon and in the eyes of this pack, our bond will be forged.” The hall falls into an awed hush as Kael releases my hand and steps back slightly, his movements deliberate and reverent. He tilts his head back, his eyes glowing with the golden hue of his wolf, and his deep voice echoes through the hall as he begins the ancient words of the mate bond.

“By the will of the moon,” he declares, his voice resonating with power, “I claim you, Talia Hale, as my fated mate. My equal. My partner. My Luna.”
The words wash over me, rich with tradition and meaning, and I feel the weight of the moment settle into my very bones. My wolf howls within me, her voice strong and jubilant. Tears prick my eyes, but I force myself to stand tall, to meet his gaze even as my entire body trembles.

Kael steps closer, his hand reaching for mine again, his grip firm and grounding. He looks at me expectantly, and the room holds its collective breath as I find my voice. “By the will of the moon,” I say, my voice shaky but growing stronger with each word, “I accept you, Kael Winters, as my fated mate. My Alpha.” The bond snaps into place, and the air shifts, charged with something electric and primal.

I feel it immediately, a surge of heat and power flooding through me, tethering me to him in a way that is both overwhelming and exhilarating. My knees nearly buckle, but Kael catches me, his arms steady around me. The room erupts into a cacophony of howls and gasps, the pack reacting to the unmistakable energy of a mate bond being forged.

But in this moment, it’s just us. Kael’s eyes are locked on mine, his expression fierce and unyielding, but there’s something softer there too—something I
never expected to see. “You’re mine now,” he murmurs, his voice low and full of meaning. “And I will protect you with everything I have.”
Tears spill over, and I nod, unable to speak.

The bond between us hums with life, an undeniable force that wraps around my heart and soul, leaving no room for doubt. For the first time in my
life, I feel seen. Wanted. Whole. Kael tilts his head back, a powerful howl ripping from his throat, and the pack answers in unison, their voices echoing through the hall. It’s a sound of celebration, of unity, of acceptance.

And as I stand there, trembling in Kael’s arms, I let myself believe—just for a moment—that this might be the start of something extraordinary.

LATER THAT NIGHT

Kael carries me over the threshold of the Governor’s Mansion, his strong arms holding me like I weigh nothing. My heart pounds as the heavy oak door closes behind us, sealing us inside his home—our home now. The air feels thick with unspoken promises, and every nerve in my body is alight with a strange mix of anticipation and fear.

The mansion is grand, opulent in a way that feels worlds apart from anything I’ve ever known—opulence that no longer represents my servitude, but a home I am meant to share. Chandeliers cast soft golden light over polished floors, and the scent of cedar and something faintly spicy—Kael—fills the air. But I can barely take it in, too consumed by the fact that I’m in his arms, in his home, and somehow, this is all real.

“Welcome home,” he says, his voice low and deep, the words wrapping around me like a warm embrace. I can’t find my voice, so I nod, my cheeks burning as I glance up at him. His grey eyes are soft but intent, and the way he looks at me makes my breath hitch.

He takes me to his bedroom, the space vast but warm, with dark wood furnishings and soft candlelight flickering on the walls. The bed is enormous, its deep green covers inviting and intimidating all at once. He sets me down gently, his hands lingering at my waist as if reluctant to let go.
“This is… a lot,” I manage, my voice barely above a whisper. Kael smiles, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “It’s just the beginning, Talia.”

Before I can respond, his hands move to the laces of my simple dress. My breath catches as he begins to untie them, his fingers slow and deliberate. “May I?” he asks, his voice a low rumble that sends shivers down my spine. I nod, unable to speak, my pulse racing as the dress loosens and slides from my shoulders. His gaze travels over me, heated and reverent, and I’ve never felt more exposed—or more desired.

“Do you have any idea how beautiful you are?” he asks, his voice filled with a mix of awe and frustration, as though the thought pains him.
