Moonborn Heir

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 32

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 32 – My hands tremble as I step into the Pack Hall, every nerve in my body taut. The grand room is
alive with tension, every corner buzzing with murmured conversations. Wolves dressed in their finest gather in clusters, the air heavy with the scent of power and expectation. I linger near the back, trying to shrink into the shadows as I take it all in.

My eyes find Ronan almost immediately, standing tall among the Shadow Guard. His posture is proud, his uniform crisp, his expression unreadable. My chest swells with pride despite myself. I know how hard he trained to earn that spot, the hours of grueling work, the sacrifices he made
to climb out of the same darkness I’m still stuck in.

But the pride doesn’t last long. It fades as I glance down at my own dress—a simple, faded piece that once belonged to my mother. The fabric is worn but clean, the best I could manage. It feels like a reminder of my place here, a silent declaration that I don’t belong among these wolves.

Sabrina, of course, looks stunning. She’s dressed in a crimson gown that clings to her curves, her dark hair cascading down her back in waves, her lips painted the color of blood. She stands beside Selene, both of them radiating authority and power. For a moment, Sabrina catches my
eye, her expression unreadable. Then she turns away, dismissing me without a word.

I pull back slightly, trying to disappear into the sea of bodies. But then Kael walks in. The room shifts the second he enters, the air thickening with his Alpha presence. His every step commands attention, his tall frame moving with a quiet confidence that sets the crowd abuzz.

My heart races as my eyes lock on him, and a surge of electricity courses through me, so intense it feels like my body is vibrating. His scent—earthy and rich, laced with something darker—reaches me even from across the room, and Eira stirs, purring faintly in approval. And then he looks at me.

Kael’s piercing grey eyes find mine, and the world narrows to just the two of us. His gaze is sharp, unwavering, cutting through every layer of doubt I’ve ever built around myself. My breath catches, my hands trembling at my sides. It’s as if he sees everything—every secret, every fear,
every broken piece of me—and still holds me there, steady in his sight.

Before I can think, before I can even move, Selene grabs my arm, her nails digging into my skin. The sharp pain pulls me back to reality, and I glance up to see her glaring down at me, her lips curling into a venomous sneer.

“Remember your place, wench,” she hisses, her voice low and icy. She twists my arm slightly, just enough to make me wince, her nails biting deeper. “Make one wrong move, and I’ll drag you back to the dark room for good.”

I bite my lip, swallowing the whimper threatening to escape as she releases me with a shove. My arm throbs, but I force myself to stand still, to keep my face blank. The last thing I want is to give her the satisfaction of seeing me break.Kael steps onto the dais at the front of the h all, commanding silence without saying a word.

The crowd quiets instantly, every eye turning to him. His expression is calm, composed, but his presence is a storm, radiating strength and authority. He clears his throat, and the low hum of his voice rolls through the room like distant thunder.

“Tonight, we gather to celebrate not just the strength of Shadow Ridge, but the bonds that make us whole,” Kael begins, his gaze sweeping over the room. His words are deliberate, every syllable measured. “It is a night to honor tradition, to forge alliances, and to embrace what destiny has laid before us.

Beside me, Selene straightens, her lips twitching into a satisfied smile. Sabrina steps forward slightly, her head held high, her eyes gleaming with anticipation. She looks every inch the future Luna, her confidence unwavering as she waits for him to call her name.

Kael’s gaze flicks briefly to her, then back to the crowd. “And tonight, it is time for me to name my mate.”
The room holds its breath, the silence so thick it feels suffocating. Sabrina steps onto the dais, her smile widening as she lifts her chin, ready to accept what she’s always believed was hers. But Kael doesn’t look at her. Instead, his eyes find mine.

“Talia Hale,” Kael says, his voice cutting through the silence like a blade. “Step forward.” A collective gasp ripples through the room, sharp and disbelieving. My heart stops, my breath catching in my throat as every eye turns to me. I freeze, unable to move, my mind racing to make sense of what’s happening. This can’t be real. This has to be a mistake.

Sabrina’s expression twists into something unrecognizable—shock, fury, and betrayal all colliding at once. Selene’s glare pierces through me, her body tense as if she’s about to lunge. And Kael… Kael’s gaze remains steady, his words echoing in my ears. “Talia,” he says again, his tone firm, unyielding. “Come here.” Eira stirs in my mind, her voice soft but certain. “Fate, Talia. This is fate.”

My legs feel like lead, but somehow, I take a step forward. Then another. The crowd parts around me, their whispers swirling like a storm as I make my way toward the dais, toward Kael. Toward a future I never dared to dream of.

My legs move as if on their own, carrying me forward, each step feeling weightless yet inevitable. It’s as though I’m being drawn toward something beyond my understanding, toward a destiny I never imagined could be mine. The whispers around me grow louder, a storm of confusio and disbelief, but it all fades into a distant hum. My focus is on Kael, his piercing gaze anchoring me.

Before I can reach the dais, a hand clamps down on my arm, yanking me to a halt. I gasp, spinning to find Selene’s furious face inches from mine. Her grip is vice-like, her nails digging into my skin as she hisses through clenched teeth. “What do you think you’re doing?” Her voice is sharp enough to cut through the thick tension in the room, drawing several curious glances. I open my mouth to respond, but my voice catches in my throat.

Selene’s eyes narrow, her expression twisted with disdain as she glares down at me like I’m something foul she’s stepped in. “Come to me, Talia.” Kael’s voice cuts through the air, calm yet commanding. It reverberates through the hall, silencing the whispers instantly. All eyes shift to him as he takes a deliberate step forward, his gaze locked on Selene. “Let her go, Selene. Now.”

Selene stiffens but doesn’t release me immediately. Instead, she raises her voice, addressing Kael directly, her tone dripping with venom. “What about our pact, Alpha Kael? What about the alliance between Shadow Ridge and Crescent Moon? You know what’s at stake.”

A ripple of gasps and murmurs moves through the crowd, the weight of her words landing like a blow. My stomach churns as every eye turns toward us, the tension so thick it feels suffocating. But Kael doesn’t waver.

His expression is unyielding, his voice steady but laced with an edge of finality. “Fate is stronger than any alliance.” He looks at me, his eyes softening just enough to send a shiver through me. “This is fate. And I choose Talia as my mate.”

The hall erupts into a cacophony of gasps and whispers, the disbelief palpable. My heart hammers in my chest, and I can’t tell if it’s from fear or something far deeper. The world seems to stand still, every sound blurring into a distant roar as Kael’s words sink in. Selene’s grip on my arm tightens painfully, her nails biting into my skin. She whirls on Kael, her voice sharp and full of fury. “You would throw away everything?

All we’ve worked for? You’re a fool, Kael!” Kael’s expression darkens, a flicker of anger flashing in his stormy grey eyes. He steps closer, his Alpha aura rolling off him in waves, commanding attention and respect. “Watch your tone, Selene,” he growls, his voice low and menacing. “

Remember your place. You stand before your Alpha.” The room falls deathly silent, the weight of his authority pressing down on everyone present.
Selene falters, her grip loosening on my arm as her gaze flickers between Kael and the murmuring crowd. Her lips press into a thin line, her fury barely contained, but she steps back, releasing me.

Kael’s gaze shifts to me, his intensity unwavering as he nods slightly, silently urging me forward. My legs tremble, but I force myself to move, stepping onto the dais with the weight of the entire pack’s stares pressing down on me. Selene retreats a step, her expression murderous, but she doesn’t dare speak again. Kael’s presence is too commanding, his authority absolute.

“This is not a mistake,” Kael says, addressing the crowd now, his voice steady and full of conviction. “This is fate. And I will not be challenged.”
The air crackles with tension, and I can barely breathe. But as Kael’s hand brushes against mine, grounding me, I feel the faintest flicker of something else—hope.
