Moonborn Heir

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 13

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 13 – I wake with a start, heart pounding, every nerve in my body ablaze.

My wolf, Fenrir, is raging, snarling, tearing through me with a raw, savage energy I’ve never felt before. It’s like something inside me has been severed, broken in half. And I know exactly what it is. Talia. She’s…she’s mated. The thought tears through me, hot and brutal, burning everything in its
path.

My mate has been claimed by another, by him. The bond I once shared with her twists, a painful reminder of what I cast aside. A possessive fury floods my veins, a rage so consuming I can barely breathe. Beside me, Sabrina stirs, reaching out to touch me, but I jerk away, sitting up in bed, chest
heaving, hands clenched. The mere sight of her, the scent of her, sets me off. I feel like I’m going to explode.

“Kael, what — ” she begins, but I’m already out of bed, throwing on my clothes in a frenzy. “Don’t touch me,” I snap, my voice low and dangerous. I barely recognize myself. The words come out harsher, colder than I intend, but I can’t stop it. My control is unraveling, slipping through my fingers like sand.
Sabrina’s eyes narrow, her posture stiffening. “Excuse me?” Her voice drips with defiance, but I don’t care. Right now, she’s nothing but an obstacle, something in the way.

I storm out of the bedroom, my footsteps echoing through the hall, each one a drumbeat of rage. I need to move, to destroy something. Someone. And Ronan is the first person in my path. I find him in the war room, hunched over maps and battle plans, his focus entirely on the task at hand. But the moment he senses me, he straightens, his expression guarded. He knows something’s wrong — he can feel the shift in me.

“Ronan!” I bark, slamming my fist onto the table. “Why the hell is this taking so long?” He blinks, thrown off by the ferocity in my voice. “Kael…we’re preparing as quickly as we can. An attack on Darkfang isn’t something we can just rush into — ”“Excuses.” I cut him off, voice laced with venom. “You’re telling me we’re sitting here, waiting, while he — ” My throat tightens, my fists clench. I can barely say it. “While he claims what’s mine?”

Ronan’s face shifts, something unreadable flickering in his eyes. He knows what I’m talking about, but he keeps his expression neutral, too damned controlled. Too careful. It only stokes my anger further. “We have to be strategic about this, Kael,” he says, his tone frustratingly calm. “Darkfang’s
defenses are strong. Lucian has patrols and spies all over the borders. If we want any chance of success, we can’t afford a mistake.”

I grit my teeth, feeling Fenrir clawing at me, pushing me to lash out, to make him understand. “Are you afraid, Ronan?” I sneer, my voice dripping with contempt. “Afraid to go after your precious sister? Is that it?”

Ronan stiffens, his eyes narrowing. “Talia has nothing to do with this. My loyalty is to you, Alpha, to the pack.” I laugh, a harsh, mocking sound that feels foreign even to me. “Then prove it. Because right now, all I see is a weak Beta too afraid to act. If you’re not with me, Ronan, you’re a threat.

And you know what happens to threats in my pack.” For a moment, Ronan’s mask cracks, his jaw tightening, a flash of anger in his eyes. But he
bows his head, submitting, even as his pride bristles. “We’ll be ready to attack soon, Kael,” he says, his voice strained but obedient. “Just give us time.”

Time. The word grates on me, a reminder of everything slipping through my fingers. Of how I let Talia slip away. “You have until dawn,” I growl, every word a threat. “After that, we’re moving. Whether you’re ready or not.”

Before he can respond, I turn away, the rage boiling hotter, more relentless. My vision blurs, every nerve on edge, screaming for blood. I’ve never felt this out of control, this close to losing everything that makes me an Alpha. “Kael.” Sabrina’s voice cuts through the haze, soft but firm. I feel her hand on my arm, gentle but unyielding, grounding me in a way that’s both infuriating and…calming. Against my will, I stop, my breathing ragged.

“Come with me,” she murmurs, her voice low and soothing. She leads me back toward the bedroom, her touch a tether that holds me from spiraling further. I follow, the fury simmering butmomentarily contained, drawn by the warmth in her touch, the quiet confidence she exudes.

Once inside, she shuts the door, her gaze steady, challenging. “You need to get a hold of yourself,” she says, voice laced with authority. “Raging at Ronan won’t bring Talia back, and it won’t win you this war.” I glare at her, the urge to snap bubbling up, but something about the way she looks at me, fierce
and unyielding, forces me to pause. She steps closer, her hand sliding up my chest, her touch soft but commanding.

“You’re an Alpha, Kael,” she whispers, her voice laced with both seduction and strength. “Act like one. Show them why they should fear you. Why they should follow you.” Her words weave through the anger, taming it, transforming it into something darker, more controlled.

She leans in, her lips brushing against my neck, her breath warm against my skin. The fury shifts, morphing into a different kind of heat, a primal desire that thrums beneath the surface. I grab her, pulling her close, feeling the strength in her body, the fire in her gaze. There’s no softness in her, no hesitation. Just raw, unfiltered confidence that matches my own.

Her lips crash against mine, and I lose myself in the intensity, in the need to reclaim something, to dominate, to take control. Her nails rake down my back, grounding me, and I let the anger bleed into this moment, into her. She meets it head-on, matching every ounce of aggression, every bite, every touch.
When we finally break apart, both of us breathless, she smirks, a dangerous glint in her eyes. “Now, that’s the Alpha I’m here for.”

I take a deep breath, my pulse still racing, but the rage…it’s different now. Sharper, more focused. Sabrina was right. I can’t let emotions rule me, can’t let the loss of Talia weaken me. I’m an Alpha, and I’ll do whatever it takes to destroy Lucian. To reclaim what’s mine, even if I have to burn his entire world to the ground.

And when I look at Sabrina, I see a partner. Not the mate I wanted, not the one I lost…but a queen willing to stand beside me in this war. “Gather the pack,” I tell her, my voice cold, calculated. “At dawn, we strike.” She smiles, a dark, predatory smile that mirrors my own.
