Moonborn Heir

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 12

Moonborn Heir Novel Chapter 12 – I lie in bed, staring up at the ceiling, trying to ignore the relentless ache in my muscles.

Despite the exhaustion, my mind won’t quiet. My body feels bruised and battered, my thoughts raw and tangled. The memory of the trial replays over and over — the intensity of each strike, the fierce determination in Lucian’s gaze, and the way I fought back with every ounce of strength I had.

Pride fills me, mingling with a sense of vulnerability. I did it; I proved myself. And the look in Lucian’s eyes when I finally landed that strike — it was more than just acknowledgment. It was respect, something that makes my heart swell even as a quiet fear lingers beneath it all.

A soft knock sounds at the door, breaking through my thoughts. I sit up, heart fluttering, knowing instinctively who it is.

When I open the door, Lucian stands there, his presence filling the doorway, intense and commanding, yet softer somehow, as though he’s taken off some of his armor just for me. In his hands, he holds a small glass jar of soothing balm, the faint scent of herbs drifting from it. My heart swells at the thoughtfulness of the gesture. “I thought you might need something to help ease the soreness,” he says, his voice low and warm.

There’s a tenderness in his gaze that pulls at something deep within me. He steps inside, holding up the jar. “May I?” I nod, my throat too tight to speak. Lucian reaches for my hand, and with a soft pull, he guides me down to sit on the floor beside him, the two of us leaning back against the edge of the bed.
The movement is surprisingly tender, the closeness easing some of the tension in my chest.

He keeps his hand in mine, his touch warm and grounding, and I find myself settling against him, feeling the quiet strength he radiates. He unscrews the jar, scooping out a small amount of the balm before reaching for my shoulders. “Lean forward,” he murmurs, his voice soft, inviting. I shift, letting him place his hands on my shoulders, and the warmth of his palms, combined with the cool relief of the balm, sends a shiver through me.

As he begins to work the balm into my shoulders, his touch firm but gentle, I feel the tension slowly melt away. I close my eyes, allowing myself to sink into the sensation, the rhythmic motion of his hands, the way he seems to know exactly where I’m hurting. He moves with such care, such reverence, that I can’t hold back the wave of emotion rising within me.

“You were…incredible today,” he murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper, as if he’s afraid to break the moment. “You fought with everything you had — and you didn’t just rely on strength. You held your ground with resilience, with courage.”

His fingers trace along the knots in my shoulders, kneading gently. “That’s what makes you special, Talia. You see every challenge as something to overcome, even when it seems impossible.” His words reach a part of me I didn’t realize was so starved, and a tear slips down my cheek, unbidden. The pain of everything I’ve endured, the weight of what I’m hiding, presses down on me, too much to carry alone.

Another tear follows, and then another, until the sobs come, unrestrained, raw, pouring out all the hurt I’ve buried for so long. Lucian shifts closer, his arms wrapping around me, pulling me gently against his chest. I let myself cry, the warmth of his embrace grounding me, holding me together even as I feel myself falling apart. His hand strokes my hair, his touch steady and reassuring, anchoring me.

After a long moment, I feel him lift my chin, his thumb brushing away the remnants of my tears. Our gazes meet, his eyes filled with a tenderness that makes my heart ache. “You don’t have to hide from me,” he whispers, his voice rough with emotion. “You can trust me, Talia. Whatever burdens you carry…you don’t have to bear them alone.” He pauses, searching my face. “Why did you leave Kael?”

The question hangs in the air, a quiet invitation, and for a moment, I hesitate, caught between fear and the pull of his trust. But his gaze, so steady, so patient, melts my defenses, and I find myself speaking, the words spilling out like a confession. “Kael…he rejected me,” I say, my voice barely a whisper. “He chose another she-wolf — for power, for alliances. I was nothing more than an inconvenience to him, something he could cast aside.”

I swallow, the bitterness of it still sharp in my throat. “He never saw me. Not like you do.” Lucian’s jaw tightens, a fierce protectiveness flaring in his eyes, and I feel the warmth of his hand cradling my face, steady and reassuring.

“You deserved so much more than that,” he murmurs, his voice filled with quiet conviction. “To be loved, to be cherished.” His gaze softens as he looks at me, and something inside me shifts, opening up in a way I never thought I’d allow.

Without thinking, I lean forward, my lips meeting his in a soft, tentative kiss. It starts gently, a brush of warmth, but as his hand slides to the back of my neck, pulling me closer, the kiss deepens, the passion and need building between us.

Lucian pulls back, his forehead resting against mine as we both catch our breath, and in the silence, his gaze searches mine with an intensity that sends a shiver down my spine.“ Talia…” His voice is thick, rough. “May I claim you? Will you be mine, my mate, my Luna?”

I feel Eira stir within me, her voice soft and steady. “He is worthy, Talia. He would protect us with his life.” My heart swells, and I nod, whispering, “Yes. I accept you, Alpha Lucian. Claim me.”

The words hang in the air, binding us together, and Lucian’s eyes darken, his pupils dilating with desire and something deeper, more primal. He leans in, capturing my lips again, the kiss transforming from tender to consuming, filled with a hunger that seems to mirror my own.

He lifts me into his arms, carrying me to the bed as though I’m something precious. Our bodies press together, each touch igniting sparks that send heat coursing through me. Lucian’s hands trace along my skin, reverent and firm, grounding me in the present, anchoring me in the certainty of our bond.

As we come together, our bond solidifies, growing deeper, stronger, undeniable with every heartbeat. I feel his energy intertwine with mine, flooding my senses, filling every part of me. My body hums with his presence, and as we move together, I feel a shift, something powerful and sacred, a binding of souls as he claims me fully.

In the midst of our joining, I sense an energy radiating from Lucian, something fierce and protective, entering me, reaching deep within. I feel it pulse inside me, mixing with my own essence, merging with something primal in my core. Deep in my belly, my son’s spirit stirs, acknowledging Lucian’s presence, as though he’s welcoming him, accepting him. Eira’s voice echoes softly in my mind, filled with awe. “The Moonborn Heir has chosen.

This is fate, Talia. This bond is sacred.” My heart swells with emotion, and as I look into Lucian’s eyes, I see a reflection of the fierce love I feel. We are bound together, not just by passion but by something eternal, something written in the stars. “Mine,” he murmurs, his voice a growl, possessive and filled with devotion. His hands caress my face, his gaze piercing through me. “You are mine, Talia. My Luna.”

“And you are mine,” I whisper, pressing my forehead against his, the weight of our bond filling me with a sense of completeness, of belonging.
When we finally lie together, entwined, his hand rests protectively over my stomach, a gesture so instinctive it sends a tremor through me.

I don’t know what this new life within me means, but I know it’s sacred, something precious born from our union. As sleep begins to claim me, I let
myself believe, just for this moment, that everything will be okay — that we are bound, truly, in a way that nothing can break.
