Holden was speechless. “Why is she doing that?” Marco didn’t respond. Audrey, whose surname was Farrell, was the eldest daughter of the previous Matriarch. She should have been the head of the family, but Marco’s mother prevented her from taking over.

When Clarissa was alive, Marco thought she was too strict, always controlling and scolding them. Now that she was gone, he realized life had been better with her around.
