Submit To The Boss Lucia And August Novel Chapter 830 – How Dare You Play the Trick on Me!
Lucia sidetracked the subject without difficulty, and got Reggio and August to bear Currer a grudge easily. Currer finally failed to suppress her resentment. “Lucia, stop pretending innocent!
Everyone knows you work for the organization, and who knows with what purpose you are approaching the Smith family after so many years!” The atmosphere in the room crackled with great tension. Before Lucia got around to any protest, August abruptly rose and gave Currer a smack.
“August!’ Currer turned her face aside which was suffused with grievance, and questioned desperately. We are so close to each other, as we grow up together. And now you just take in whatever this malicious woman says, only because she fakes an identity for you?”
August’s face grew grimmer and his voice sounded chillier, “Shut up if you want to return to Cardiff alive! Make apologies to Mrs. Adams now!”
Unnecessary.
Lucia went up to Currer slowly and touched her swollen cheek lightly with a smile, “Miss Sullen, you seem to have forgotten you yourself are not
only from the organization, but even from the headquarters…”
As the things went along the unexpected direction, Reggio watched the three people in shock. He couldn’t help wondering who they exactly were with a sense of vigilance. He remembered August was still working for the organization here when Currer started collaborating with Cardiff Business Coalition.
August was then assigned with important missions only because Currer guaranteed he had lost his memory and the Smith family had watched him for three years. Now, to Reggio’s great surprise, the most trusted staff of his and the one who had saved his life both had ties to the organization.
Conscious of the flicker in Currer’s eyes, Lucia laughed more confidently, You are the very one who knows why I joined and was expelled by the organization. I’ve resumed the life of common people now, and I hope you wont get troubles due to your negligence.”
Lucia had actually been thinking how to shake off Reggio’s doubt raised by the matter of the chip, and now Currer’s mistake happened to help Lucia prove her innocence to Reggio, because just a quick investigation would reveal Lucia had no connection with Griffith Organization.
There were even rifts between them if the investigation went deeper. I don’t think further contact is necessary since Mr. Smith is skeptical about my background. To be honest, I dislike you very much now.”
As her tone was getting harsher, Lucia slapped the files onto the table and strode to the door quickly. Reggio put on a serious look swiftly and stopped her, “Lucia, I’ll make it fair to you. Please stay.” Are you trying to fool me, Reggio Smith?”
Lucia abruptly dragged him towards her by holding his tie as she snapped with palpable abhorrence. Are you trying to
make it fair to me, or seeking a chance to get rid of me when you get the result of
the investigation?” She then pushed him away with a snort, and bellowed at his
computer, Check my background as you like. And this is the last chance I offer
you.’
Gawking at her for quite a while, Reggio seemed to get regretful for the decision
he had made just now. He swiftly kept away from her out of respect and
suggested with a kind voice, ‘Just get yourself refreshed outside and come back
when you feel better.” He had to admit he now found this woman more charming,
and he believed he could accept everything of her as long as his own interests
were not touched. But he also swore he would take her life if he failed to win her
heart, for he wouldn’t let anyone else to enjoy what he couldn’t obtain.
Lucia gave him no response, only straightening up and striding out of the room.
Seeing her leaving intact, Currer gnashed her teeth and followed up. With a
mixture of resentment and jealousy inside her, Currer just couldn’t tolerate any
cheerful mood of Lucia.
After instructing one staff to look into Lucia’s information carefully, Reggio lapsed
into silence. Casting an aggressive look at August, he went on pondering on
something.
August rose to his feet with a sneer as his strong figure was exuding an
inexplicably compelling aura. Do you want me to apologize for Currer?” he
enquired solemnly.
Reggio shook his head slowly after giving a snort, only looking at the files being
sent over.
“I’ll quit from this plan and go back to Cardiff first.’ August said with resolution that
allowed no questioning. “Let’s discuss the next plan when you return to Cardiff.’
Reggio’s face froze at once. ‘The plan this time is not an ordinary one. We didn’t
train you to retreat at crucial moments.” he threatened in a low voice as he stared
at August sharply.
‘1 don’t like stupid partners.” August sneered. “I won’t pay the price of my life for
a fool. That’s how it works.”
No worries about that.” Reggio went up to him slowly. He then placed his pal on
August’s shoulder and pressed him down until August got seated. She
contributes a lot to the coalition. You wont lose your life easily.”
As the fax machine kept producing new files, Lucia was leaning against the sink
in the lady’s room at the other end of the passage. She looked at the door from
the mirror, just to find the familiar figure as expected. “I almost thought you
wouldn’t follow.” she tutted.
So you are waiting for me here?’ Currer went closer slowly. ‘You’ve made some
progress in the past two year, huh…”
Lucia shrugged nonchalantly. “I’ve got some more smarter plans. Yet you are just
too stupid to enjoy them.”
“You can’t play the game willfully forever when Reggio is backing you up.” Currer
warned. “You cover will be torn down sooner or later, and everyone will have the
reason to take your life then.”
Hearing that, Lucia went up slowly and approached Currer’s face which was with
delicate makeup. “I shall give that exact warning to you, for my disguise is to be
reinforced soon, while you’ve given away Reggio’s real identity.” said Lucia
complacently.
“You…” Currer’s anger was rekindled. She grasped Lucia’s wrist and snapped
from between her teeth, “How dare you play the trick on me?!”
Lucia didn’t bother to shrug away her grip. Instead, she only let Currer’s tight
grasp leave red marks on her wrist. “Don’t tell me you haven’t realized that until
now.” she challenged with a sweet smile. “What punishment do you think Reggio
will give you?”
Currer lifted her hand and gave Lucia a smack before Lucia had finished her
words. Gritting her teeth and closing her eyes, Lucia just felt her cheek burning
as Currer’s nails left scratches on it.
