Submit To The Boss Lucia And August Novel Chapter 548 – Comrade-In-Arms
Jeanne was so pissed off. She had never been treated like this before. She was scolded and beaten and was almost raped. Looking at Mr. Wilcox’s fading figure, she cursed angrily, “Scum!”
Suddenly, she felt a strange gaze land on her. Looking up, she found Bishop staring at her smilingly. Jeanne cast him a scornful glance and was to walk away.
Though the Kellies and the Adams were close to each other in the past, and she had known Bishop since he was admitted. as an Adams, she didn’t have a good impression of Bishop. When she was Mrs. Adams, she only followed behind August and didn’t have much contact with Bishop.
Later, when Bishop replaced August and made Martin his henchman, she disliked Bishop even more.
She was surprised that he would stand up for her. At this moment, Bishop’s chuckle was heard and he said, “Rush to leave?” Jeanne stopped. She turned around to look at him coldly and said in a not-sofriendly tone, “Or?” Stay here to be beaten in the face?
Bishop smiled. “But you will have to wait.” The man suddenly reached out to her cheek. Jeanne was stunned. Before she could react, the man had gently smoothed the Ban-Aid on her face with his index finger.
Then, he said, “How did you get these wounds? Your perfect face will be marred by the scar.” His words reminded Jeanne of what happened when she went to find August.
She angrily clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. She was so eager to find Lucia right now and cut that bitch into pieces.
If it wasn’t for Lucia, she wouldn’t have had such scars. And she wouldn’t have been humiliated by those scums. Bishop had guessed what had happened at the sight of Jeanne’s displeased look. He smiled and said, “Well, seems to be related to my brother.”
His words hit the bull in the eye. Jeanne sniffed in anger and said to Bishop coldly, “What does that have to do with you?”
She snorted and, as she remembered something, asked, “My dad forced me to see a psychiatrist. You found that doc, didn’t you? From now on, mind your own business!”
After saying, Jeanne was to leave but suddenly Bishop broke into laughter. “Why do we have to sour our relationship?
Speaking of which, we can be called comrades-in-arms.” Jeanne frowned. She turned to him and asked, “What do you mean?”
Bishop showed cunning in his eyes. “Didn’t you want to get rid of Lucia Mitchell?” The hatred towards Lucia was more effective than anything. Hearing this, Jeanne changed into a serious expression. Her eyes became deep and showed complicated feelings.
Bishop perceived all changes in her expression. He gradually produced a smile. “What a coincidence, I also want to get rid of her.”
The sun was diminishing to the west and the darkness of night gradually
shrouded the city. When Lucia woke up, she had already missed the time for
dinner.
She moved herself and suddenly caught sight of a man. She tilted her head
slightly and found August sitting in the wheelchair beside the hospital bed.
Judging from his closed eyes, Lucia reckoned that he was sleeping.
Lucia looked down at his arms, which had been dressed. White gauze wrapped
his wounds layer by layer.
She took a deep breath and wondered if she should wake him up. After all, she
had been so hungry.
Suddenly, the man convulsed. His brows were knitted, and his expression was
wry. He seemed to be having a nightmare. Lucia was surprised by his anxious
sleeping look. She never thought that August, a man so tough and so hardhearted, should have fears.
“No!”
After a shudder, the man woke up, panting. He widened his eyes and looked
around blankly.
When he saw Lucia, he seemed to have been poured water on, and calmed
down immediately and retained composure. Lucia hesitated for a moment before
asking, “Nightmare?”
August lowered his head and snorted.
He frowned and looked depressed. Perhaps it was because of the dream he had
just now.
Lucia sensed something. After a deep breath, she asked, “What was it? In your
dream.”
She was so curious about what he had in his dreams. Whatever it was, it made
him so gloomy and agitated that he kept exuding a cold aura.
August pressed his lips. After seconds of hesitation, he answered, “I dreamed of
Mr. Makoto,”
His words stunned Lucia dumb. She tried to comfort him but failed to utter a
word.
Speaking of which, she was also involved in the death of Mr. Makoto.
Judging from Jeff’s words today alone, she could know that August found
Evergreen Meditation Yard because of her. She was either followed or betrayed
by one of her companions that day. Either way, she was the root cause of the
accident.
She not only failed to find August in Evergreen Meditation Yard but even brought
Mr. Makoto and the entire yard into danger.
Lucia’s heart was full of guilt.
She clenched her fists tightly and said, “If it was really me who led Bishop there, I
would be either followed or betrayed.
So, I want to look into it and give Mr. Makoto and the entire yard an explanation.”
Hearing this, August nodded after a short pause. “Yes. That’s the best choice.
I’ve brought Makoto’s remains to the mortuary house. He deserves a fair funeral.
I’ll also ask my men to find Jeff and the others’ whereabouts. It would be best. if
we could settle them down.”
August’s words seemed to have made the atmosphere more sorrowful.
Neither did Lucia know what to say. At this moment, some strange voice was
heard.
Lucia was stunned and soon realized that it was her stomach protesting. She
hurriedly looked up and embarrassedly met
August’s eyes.
August had been expressionless. He was now actually smiling.
He asked softly, “Hungry?”
Lucia blushed and she denied, “No.”
August smiled brighter. He didn’t tease Lucia, but silently texted someone with
his phone.
Soon, Zane knocked on the ward door. Zane brought several paper bags, from
which the aroma of food wafted out. Lucia looked up and watched August taking
out little buns, dumplings, fried meat, a bowl of porridge, and fried vegetables
one after another. Her stomach was protesting more violently.
“I am hungry so I asked Zane to bring me something to eat.” August looked at
her and continued, “Do you want to join. me?”
Lucia took a deep breath. She felt so embarrassed that she chosen to remain
silent.
August didn’t ask any more questions and began eating in a leisurely and
graceful manner. His movements were still as elegant as that of a nobleman
even if he had one arm injured.
Lucia had almost gone mad in the torture of the smell of food. Soon, she gave up
resisting and let the temptation of food. get the better of her. She cleared her
throat and said, “There is so much food. I suppose you can’t finish them all by
yourself, let me help you.”
